Jacksonville’s own Captain Dan Parker is a legend in Garza Bay, fishing this area for more than a decade.

This FishingNosara Hall of Famer and his wife Charlene had a big day on January 31 with Captain William on the Wanderer.

After the first Sailfish release, Captain William found a pod of spinning porpoises and knew that Yellowfin Tuna were lurking underneath.

Our old pal Ryan McCulley brought the family for a 6.5 hour trip and their scorecard ran the gamut from inshore Bonita action to offshore Sailfish scores.

The Bonita were deployed inshore in an attempt to score a big monster, however the offshore bite was really where the beast was found.

Excellent work by Mate Johnny and this young angler.

Jeff Dupree and his group started out their trip on the Harvester with a wonderful Sailfish release.

After the trophy release they continued scoring, filling up the refrigerator in with bunches of big Dorado.

This big one zig-zagged to both sides of the boat but Captain Alex kept the angles lined up and the fish off of the motor.

All told they nabbed five nice Dodos, all with good size to them.

Ken Smith Jr. celebrated his dad Ken Smith Sr.’s birthday with a sweet fishing trip to Costa Rica. The whole family was in on the birthday surprise:

We are stoked to report that they caught a true fish-of-a-lifetime on board the Explorer.

“At this very moment, I knew this fish wasn’t very happy.” wrote Kenny on his Facebook page.

This Black Marlin is easily over 300lbs. and put up a fight like a bulldog.

Great release by Captain Fico and Mate Elias was the perfect way to close out this awesome experience.

No great week of fishing is complete without a end-of-trip dinner, and this late day Yellowfin Tuna fit the bill:

“It was real Costa Rica, until next time!”
