Dave Buckner and his boys had a landmark day on the bar-room brawlin’ Explorer today with a 12lbs. White tuna, 30lbs. Yellowfin Tuna, and 20lbs. Dorado in the fishbox.

Such variety is not uncommon in these waters…having the tools and talent to bring them all in on the same trip is what makes the Explorer the best mid-size boat in Garza Bay!

Amazing achievement today on the Wanderer by client David Albert and his family… how about two Double Sailfish Releases on one trip!

The first double release came at 11:50am as First Mate Alex performed this daring stunt with out injury to either the fish or the anglers. While this would be enough for most charter boats, Captain William is not your average charter captain.

He swung the Wanderer right back to where the first pair was discovered and sure enough found another pair of Sailfish just over one hour later.

This second release was performed at 1:20pm after a 15 minute fight. Four fish in a hour is not the norm, but when an abnormally good bite is happen you know the Wanderer won’t be far away.

The Wanderer took her reign of supremacy to the inshore reef and reports a wide variety of tasty fare in the fish box for client Ivan and his group. The Penn Spinfisher 7500 was the weapon of choice this trip and First Mate Alex deployed a cloud of fresh Bonita chunks that the bottom fish could not resist.

A small Snapper and an Amberjack were the first casualties and unlike it’s Atlantic brethren these AJs are very good to eat. Not to be out done the ladies got into the fight and conquered an even bigger Snapper. Way to go!

The big score of the trip as far as weight goes is this lovely Broomtail Grouper estimated at 20lbs. This is some of the best-tasting fish in the world and is certainly a treat for these anglers.

Lastly this Rock Snapper is one of the best examples we have seen of such a specimen and believe me it tastes just as good as it looks.

David Crisp is a fine angler from Northeast Florida and came to Nosara on the recommendation of our great friend Captain Rick Ryals of Florida Sportsman Radio fame.

Clearly we get a little nervous when such heavyweights endorse our place, plus the weather onshore was less-than-favorable for Mr. Crisp’s trip on the mighty Wanderer.

Fortunately the dynamic duo of Captain William and First Mate Alex would not be denied as they deftly dodged thunderheads and still managed to keep the blue beauty on the fish. Earlier in the morning they released a Rooster fish with Janet Storey’s group, and wouldn’t you know it that another pez gallo was out there waiting for Dave Crisp.

This Rooster fish release was a real highlight for Dave, plus he went inshore and caught this little guy later in the trip.

To the left is a nice Pompano, but the other fish we still don’t know exactly what species. Dave said it tasted excellent!

Janet Storey had a week of eye-popping catches offshore, and for her group’s final trip they stayed inshore to to find some tasty bottom fish. The action was heavy early as a school of Jack Crevelles couldn’t resist our deep jigs

Notice the right side of the picture that this is a double hookup…when these fish get hungry they FEED!

They had a ton of rod-bending fun and the highlight for the fishbox was this perfectly-sized Rock Snapper. This tasty beast put our new Penn Spinfishers to the test and should surely serve as a perfect end-of-vacation dinner for these Moorehaven, FL anglers.

Nathan Treueskis joined Captain Carlos on the Adventurer and this Hawaii-based angler brought along a little lady with some big fish-fightin’ skills! Check out this beautiful Pacific Sailfish release:

Captain Carlos in on a tear this week with three Sailfish release in a five day span…that action supersedes all 23′-under boats in the bay and cements Carlos’ reputation as one of the baddest dudes on the ocean. Look out for more great action from the secret weapon this summer!

So we recently took delivery of a new set of Penn Spinfisher 5500 mounted on Penn Bluewater Carnage jigging rods and decide to take them for a test drive on the mighty Wanderer.

The Storey family from Florida was back on board after their legendary Blue Marlin release yesterday and decided to stay inshore. The highlight of their trip was this wonderful Rooster fish release.

After a quick photo this beast was set free. We look forward to seeing him on the hook again really soon!

Here’s Janet’s email from later in the week: “We had a great time fishing. William and Alex were so good at their jobs. They keep the boat and their equipment tip top.”

“The staff was so helpful and willing to answer all our questions. We really enjoyed Freddie who drove us to the airport and to the boat.”

“Tell Craig when he gets the new boat finished, William should get it. He is an outstanding Captain. Thanks for the great trip.”

Wanna hear about the best boat in Garza? How about two Marlin releases on the Wanderer for two different charters on the same day?

May 25 will now be remembered as the day of the ultimate Marlin Doubler Header with client Janet Storey releasing a 300lbs. Blue Marlin at 10:11am and then client John Baumgart releasing a 400lbs. Blue Marlin at 5:29pm!

Janet’s Marlin was a real thing of beauty; big, strong, and tough as a bear. But even this monster wasn’t prepared to do battle with an angler from the hard-fishin’ Glades region of Florida surrounding Lake Okeechobee!

Janet set everyone straight later on Facebook: “I caught the 300# Blue Marlin. William and Alex are a great on the Wanderer. Can’t say enough good things about Craig and his staff. We enjoyed it all.”

After a safe release by First Mate Alex, Captain William brought the Wanderer home to Garza to let off the Storey group and pick-up FishingNosara Hall of Famer John Baumgart for his afternoon half-day charter.

The headed out to troll the same lane of water and put in a full 4 hours of hunting until the reel sang out the song of a Marlin strike! Remember that this is a game of time investment and a slow start makes a nice prologue to a great fishing story.

Amazing fish by John Baumgart and great fishing handling as always by the incomparable First Mate Alex.

Days like this one are rare for sure, but when you have the right boat, tackle, and crew for the job there is always a chance for great action like this on the best boat in Garza, the mighty Wanderer!

May 25, 2013

The Adventurer has been pushed harder and performed better than we ever expected and the credit is 100% due to the fearless Captian Carlos. On May 25 with client Andrew the pocket knife challenged a big-ass Marlin to a fight and gave her everything she could handle.

Though the fish broke off after about 30 minutes, we are convinced that it won’t be long till the powerful 23-footer conquers a big Marlin. As a consolation prize, they did manage to catch and release this beautiful Pacific Sailfish later in the day around 3:30pm

Great action from Captain Carlos and the secret weapon Adventurer!
