Javier Perez and the boys returned to theย Discoverer on the 7th and were met by a nice Blue Marlin.

Scott O’Kelley moved over the barroom brawlerย Explorer on the 24th, and proved once again that you don’t need a big boat to catch big fish in Costa Rica.
Excellent billfish releases got things moving the in right direction. Next, Captain Fico hooked up this big Yellowfin Tuna.
More Yellowfin Tunas and Dorados helped round out the haul.
On November 15 John Grumino hit paydirt on the Harvester.
They got right into the thick of the action with this nice Blue Marlin release and a Striped Marlin release.
Amazing action for these Garden State anglers.
The first day of the season filled the refrigerator with Yellowfin Tuna filets, so on the second day Craig and Javier went hunting for trophy fish.
Javier belted up for the first Sailfish of the day. This crazy beauty was darting back in forth above the water.
After a nice battle she was safely released as always.
Craig was next into the breach and waged an epic battle with a big Blue Marlin.
Dario Hernandez joined his father for this trip and snagged a few sandwich-sized Dorado filets.
This trip was also a training run for Mate Antonio, who most of our clients know as our panga boat driver; he will be assuming the mate’s role on theย Explorer this year, and will be training with Captain Alex on the Harvester to continue improving his skills.
Our amazing crew has been working hard these last few months on the construction of Casa Bianca, so when Javier asked if he could launch one of the boats for a relaxing fishing time the answer was “Of course!”
Captain Alex and Mate Wilson of the Harvester found some nice Yellowfin Tunas just a few miles off of the beach. Alexander, Grevan, and Marino were happy to have these filets on ice.
Then, they spotted a large macha of porpoises a little bit further offshore. A funny thing happened on the way to the porpoise pod.
A 400+lbs. Blue Marlin caught up with a single lure that Captain Alex left in the water while in transit, and struck it while theย Harvester was clipping along at 20 knots!
That is a new level of high-speed trolling! Safely battled by Foreman Dieter and released by Mate Wilson, this release is now part of the Harvester‘s untouchable legacy.
The Wanderer and angler David Schwertner battled a big Blue Marlin on the 20th.
This one got away, but what a fun fight. Plus we got great photos of the fight.
Theย Discoverer scored another blue Blue Marlin release on March 15.
Backed up by a nice Sailfish release, the big battleship it posting big scorecards in March.
On March 13, David Humphrey’s family and Captain Carlos put on an exquisite display of billfish releases.
This big Blue Marlin was the highlight of the trip, which also included several excellent Sailfish releases.
