The Explorer found that MONSTER Dorado were all over the place and took advantage of these late-season beauties.
The big battleshipย Discoverer scored a few nice Yellowfin Tunas on the 16th with angler John Barry.
Here’s what John had to say after the trip: “We had a fantastic trip these guys are true professionals – I brought my mom along with me who did not want to fish and they communicated with me before and after the trip to ensure she had a good time. She had a fanatics time, even ended up in the battle chair fighting a tuna I bet I could even get her to get out again. We caught a bunch of Yellowfin + fought a sailfish we just lost.”
Captain Wilson was on fire in mid-August…he releasedย another MONSTER Marlin with angler Cliff Quick on the 11th.
Mr. Quick also came home with filets, courtesy of this nice Dorado:
Central Florida angler Mark Shugg stepped up theย Harvester on August 9 and boat a MONSTER Dorado:
Young Mr. Shugg scored a ‘small’ Dorado, but it’s only small compared to the first fish.
This Wahoo is legitimately small (for us, at least) but will filet up into a pair of tasty white-meat steak all the same.
David Sohm had a monster day on August 9 with theย Explorer reporting bunch of tasty Yellowfin Tunas and a big Dorado. Perfect for fresh sushi!
They also released a nice Sailfish later in the trip.
Stephan Badsteiber continued his run of excellent trips on August 8. Top of the scorecard is the very challenging Double Sailfish release.
They also scored a few solo Sailfish releases, plus a decent Dorado for the dinner table.
We recieved this email from Stephan after the trip: “Dear Matty, Thanks a lot, that we could fish with Antonio an Raffa on the Explorer. They are working very hard, we enjoyed every minute on the boat. I also think, that we caught the whole of Costa Rica the last week!
On August the 8th,we got a double strike of sailfish, released another one and caught a Mahi Mahi. Great fishing and big memories for us!”
Bird released safely.
Shark released safely.
Fresh Tuna Burrito
On August 7, Ryan Lampasona returned to theย Harvester and upped the ante with an excellent Blue Marlin release.
This is the third world-class trophy release in two days for this group, and all that reeling can work up an appetite. Fortunately, a MONSTER Dorado and several nice Yellowfin Tunas will hit the spot.
German angler Stephan Badstieber added a Sailfish release to his hefty scorecard on the 5th.
They also filled the filet bag with several big Dorados.
Theย Discoverer delivered some nice Dorado catches for angler Sean Wedige on August 4.
Team Callihan enlisted the flagship on July 31, and they were treated to a bunch of excellent catches; this youngster’s face tells the tale:
It’s always a thrill for us to see young anglers embracing the craft of Sportfishing; these are the anglers of tomorrow.
Also the grown-up kids got in on the action:
