Darren Cook blew the billfish out of the water today on the Wanderer with Captain William.

Sailfish were attacking the spread throughout the trip and every angler got a taste of the action.

Captain William put on a boat handling clinic as he kept the blue beauty out in front of the bills all day long. This late-day Double Sailfish Release was the apex of the action:

Great releases by First Mate Alex and these excellent anglers.

Darren Cook and his son knocked out a pair of aggressive billfish today on the mighty Wanderer.

Young Mr. Cook strapped in to battle a Sailfish that charged the boat so hard it almost passed by Captain William’s helm station.

After the safe release, Darren found himself in a fight with a day-glo Striped Marlin.

Florida fisherman John Koons booked several days with the team this month, and his trip on March 24 saw a bunch of great Sailfish releases by the whole family.

The boys did great work on the reel to best these big Sailfish.

In the afternoon the grown-ups got in on the action with three additional Sailfish released.

Great work by Captain William and First Mate Alex to deliver the goods for this great group of guys.

Team Showalter has been gaining momentum at a rapid pace, but nobody saw this one coming….how’s 18 Sailfish releases sound?

When the day starts with a double hook-up and release, you know it’s going to be a fun day.

Captain William tracked down a whole chorus line of kicking Sailfish and First Mate Alex lined them up like the Rockettes.

One after the other these fired-up Sailfish came pouring into the spread.

After lunch the bite turned white-hot with not one but a second Triple Sailfish Hookup!

Check out some second-tier boats from the area trying to swoop in on Captain William’s mighty Wanderer:

Ain’t happening bro…The blue beauty kept releasing Sails until the last minute of the 8 hour trip.

It’s worth pointing out that all 18 releases were ‘clean’ meaning that the circle hook was fully released and removed from the fish…a lot of times when you hear of sportfishing teams ‘releasing’ large numbers of Sailfish that they are using the so-called Snatch release or South Florida release; this technique is safe and quick for the humans but leaves the hook in the fish, meaning a slow death for the billfish.

We don’t ever snatch release and it’s worth commending First Mate Alex and our other mates on their mastery of the clean release.

Amazing fishing for Team Showalter who once again prove that if you put in the hours on the blue water, the fish will reward your time investment!

FishingNosara is the first choice for Family Fishing in Costa Rica, and we are honored to be chosen by so many parents to show their kids a great experience on the water.

Check out the family Double Sailfish release scored by client Brad Ferris and his clan.

Hectic action on the Wanderer made smooth by Captain William and First Mate Alex. Both fish released safely and these kids get a great fishing memory to last a lifetime.

Ed Showalter brought a group of great anglers from the lake-dotted countryside of west-central Ontario, Canada; this crew is ready to fish HARD with five trips planned this week.

They got off to a fast start with Captain Carlos on the Adventurer with a fine Sailfish release; fitting that this group’s youngest angler caught the first billfish from our smallest boat.

Size don’t matter in this kind of fight! Great work by Captain Carlos on the safe release.

With the scorecard already marked, this bunch was ready to thaw out in some nice tropical sunshine…looks like everyone is settling in just fine!

Tom and Tammy Clymer had a boatload of fun fishing inshore with Captain William on the Wanderer. Our tactic is to stir up a feeding frenzy on one of our inshore reefs, hoping to coax one of the big bottom dwellers out from his hiding spot in the ocean floor.

The trick to this kind of fishing is perseverance and patience; the fish of a lifetime won’t be the first one on the hook, but if you invest the time over a good spot then the monster will come calling. Tammy got the action fired up with this nice Jack Crevelle.

Then young Misses Clymer added another Jack Crevelle:

This activity combined with a few Bonitas getting recycled into the water by First Mate Alex’ knife, this area was bound to yield something big.

Something hit Tom Clymer’s line like a wrecking ball and bent the rod over like a bullwhip.

What was this tiny water disturbance hiding?

BOOM!

Great work by the Clymer family in executing this bottom fishing attack strategy with the unstoppable Captain William.
