Transporter – New Panga

The FishingNosara Build Team has completed a 10-month project to bring a new transport vessel to the shores of Playa Garza.

The project started last December with the initial layup of multiple layers of woven roven fiberglass.

Once out of the mold, the crew trimmed up the edges and patched up a few small voids around the chimes.

Here are the final patches going into place:

Satisfied with the hull strength, we flipped the hull over and installed the PVC gunwales and lip.

Then it was time to install the transom wall, anchor locker, and bench seat.

Special attention was paid to allow water to flow smoothly from the boxes and under the seat.

Once the main elements were solidly epoxied and glassed into place, we spent weeks polishing and leveling all the gelcoat.

We want this initial layer to be as perfect as possible so that future layers of gelcoat will lay properly.

The final passes of gelcoat went on really smooth.

The black bottom paint matches our other boats and brings a clean finish to the outer hull.

We look forward to hanging the motors and controls soon, and will be service our ferry needs for the foreseeable future.
