Another legendary day for Charly Bernhardt and Silvia Munoz on the Wanderer!

Regular readers of this report remember that Charly and Silvia were on the big blue beauty exactly one year ago for the most productive day of Yellowfin tuna fishing in recent memory; Jog your memory by Watching the video or reading the post.

So here we are 364 days later, and what do you think happened?

Whoa! Those are some big f*$%king tunas…it’s amazing that they could hold these things up for the pictures let alone pull them out of the water. Great work by Craig, Paula, Charly and Silvia on some amazing angling!

This is why Alex lifts weights…great work all around by anglers, boat, Captain William, and the crew.

They say everything is bigger in Texas, so when the Wanderer welcomed Lone Star gal Debbie Griffith and her posse from Cypress on July 31 it was clear that only the BIG fish would have to be worried. Captain William hunted down a large school of feeding porpoises and put the Wanderer right alongside the feeding frenzy as First Mate Alex and the boys threw Williamson “El Poppers” to the surface-striking Yellowfin Tunas.

They caught two monster Yellowfin Tunas over 60lbs using this top water casting tactic. Later in the day they drew the attention of a big Sailfish but couldn’t quite bury the hooks. Still, all is well with over 120lbs. of Tuna in the fishbox…enough to feed an appetite the size of Texas.

You can tell from the pictures that these are some Heavy Yella Fellas!

June 18, 2011

On June 18 Charlie Pharr and his friends booked the Wanderer for a half day and started the morning off right. Nothing feels better than putting TWO 60lbs. Yellowfin Tuna in the box before noon! Then they raised two Sailfish but could not convince them to eat.

By the end of the trip they had two 60+ lbs. Yellas and also a couple of 20lbs. From football-sized to football-player-sized, the Yellowfin Tuna bite was ON FIRE this month!

On November 21 Craig Sutton was joined on the Wanderer by Matty, Pat, Paula, Craig Jr., Sylvia and Charley Barnhart and we did a full day of work on the offshore Yellowfin Tuna.

The big Yellas were chowing down on Williamson Jet Poppers and slow-trolled cedar plugs. Even though these catches were great, we still left a few big fellas in the water.

Overall, a great day fishing with some great folks.

Also clients John, Joe, and Bruce Sabine finished their week of fishing in Nosara by making life miserable for the big Yellowfin Tunas.

Jet Poppers and ceder plugs were the hot lures, and the trio of Tampa anglers had a legendary good time. The fishboxes were so stuffed that they released this 70lbs. Yellowfin.

November 17, 2010

Day Three for John, Joe, and Bruce brought more Yellowfin to the Wanderer. These big Yellas are biting fiercely right now and should continue for the rest of the season.

November 16, 2010

The boys went offshore on Tuesday November 16th and had a field day on the Yellowfins, this time the mack daddy weighed in over 75lbs.

The bite was so thick that eventually they started catching and releasing; unheard of for nice meat fish like these, but there was enough tonnage that ice consumption was a concern.

Regular readers of the FishingNosara Costa Rica Fishing Report will remember that last month client Buddy Cherry caught four 20lbs. Yellowfin Tunas on June 15th. Well turns out that on June 16th Captain William put this client on a school of MASSIVE Yellowfin Tuna. The whopper was over 150lbs!

Seriously, I can not understate how big this fish is…Buddy Cherry is a big North Florida boy and notice that the fish is almost his size.

Forget about mates Alex and David…This fish is way bigger than they are! This achievement capped off a great week in Costa Rica for Mr. Cherry and has earned him a spot in the newly created FishingNosara Hall of Fame.
