The Adventurer has been pushed harder and performed better than we ever expected and the credit is 100% due to the fearless Captian Carlos. On May 25 with client Andrew the pocket knife challenged a big-ass Marlin to a fight and gave her everything she could handle.

Though the fish broke off after about 30 minutes, we are convinced that it won’t be long till the powerful 23-footer conquers a big Marlin. As a consolation prize, they did manage to catch and release this beautiful Pacific Sailfish later in the day around 3:30pm

Great action from Captain Carlos and the secret weapon Adventurer!

Our good friend TJ Conrads is back in Nosara and he couldn’t help but get back out on the blue water for some big billfish hunting. Remember that TJ joined us in November 2012 and had a double sailfish release on the flagship Wanderer…this time TJ was flying solo and opted for Captain Carlos on the 23-foot Adventurer.

We are pumped up to report that even on a smaller boat the results stayed the same as the master hunter released another Pacific Sail!

“What a fight!” TJ commented later. We look forward to seeing TJ in the future…the Sailfish community may be less excited.

The Adventurer was on the water again on April 26, this time with client Steve Kuhnz for a half-day excursion. They started the day off with some inshore nibblers and then Captain Carlos pushed offshore to find the blue water alley.

Sure enough this nice Dorado hit the rig about 3 miles from shore and Steve had the game to put it on ice.

Nice catch from the 23-foot panga that is changing all the rules for extreme panga fishing!

Mark Applegate finished off a full week of fishing on the Adventurer with Captain Carlos with a mammoth Sailfish release. This monster is clearly the largest billfish ever caught on the 23-foot pocket knife and is a testament to the strength of the angler, boat, and Captain.

Here’s an excerpt from Mark’s email: “Just wanted to say thanks. I had a great time in Nosara and catching a Sailfish on my birthday was the icing on the cake! You have a great staff working for you, hats off to all of them! Carlos did an awesome job of putting me on the fish.”

Seth Winkelman and his girl Meg hit the water with Captain Carlos on the Adventurer and in addition to enjoying the stunning coastline views, they also knocked out several Jack Crevelles and a nice white tuna.

Seth followed up with an amazing Jack Crevelle caught on a flyrod. Look at the effort being exerted on this wispy rod:

The multi-faceted Adventurer made an amazing discovery today less than a mile from shore: the elusive Congrio!

It’s fitting that a gentleman with a name like David Sugar would catch the sweetest-tasting thing in the ocean, and the lobster-like meat from this half-fish, half-eel is unbelievable.

In addtion to the excellent meat this creature is a unique fighter because it has the ability to swim backwards. Great work by Captain Carlos and by angler David Sugar.

Gordon Potter took to the Adventurer and was treated to a lovely Red Grouper. Check out Captain Carlos’ double hook deep drop rig…twice the hooks means twice the chance to catch a deep blue beastie.

He also backed it up with lots of Jack Crevelles.

The Adventurer strikes again! Client Kim Hius took a short ride on the pocket knife and pried up this tasty Jack Crevelle less than two miles from shore.

Excellent quick hitter by Captain Carlos on the craftiest boat in the bay.

Another great catch reported by Captain Carlos of the fearless Adventurer! Our buddy Bill headed out for a brief 2.5 hour trip and hauled in this very respectable Red Snapper estimated to weigh over 20lbs.

This is a heckuva good eatin’ fish and a good sign that last year’s legendary Red Grouper bite may be on it’s way back.

Recall that in the Spring of 2012 we had a massive influx of this tasty species and I am sure that all of the Captains would love to welcome them back to the fishboxes.

Rich Binnell and his son had a day of big smiles and fun action on the 23 foot Adventurer with Captain Carlos. The fish were gigantic by any stretch, but the small Snappers and White tunas taste just as good as the big ones!

Looks like the lack of big fish didn’t diminish the smiles on board the Adventurer!

All told we got happy clients and fish in the box as the Adventurer delivers a fun, safe, educational family fishing trip.
