Kingbuster 400 this weekend

After two weeks of weather delays we are primed for the weekend at the Kingbuster 400 Kingfish Tournament held in St. Augustine, FL. Lots of great prizes are on the line for all levels of anglers, so come out and join FishingNosara at this tourney.

Tournament Recap

Following a spirited Captain’s Meeting at the St. Augustine Bridge of Lions Marina, 50+ crews braved the 100+ degree heat and went kingfishing. The bite was a bit slow and the scales were absent the 50lbs. we’ve seen in the past.

Still it was exciting to see first place go to a good old friend:

Congrats to Captain Jerry Carter on winning the KingBuster 400…his prize? A week at Nosara Paradise Rentals with fishing trips from FishingNosara!

PS Nice hats gentlemen…FSU and FishingNosara is a lethal combination!

Kingbuster 400 – June 10-12, 2011

FishingNosara and Nosara Paradise Rentals were pleased to sponsor the Kingbuster 400 Tournament in St. Augustine, FL. This was the first major King Mackeral tournament of the season and one with a long history of ‘setting the tone’ for the tournament season.

This year’s format was a single day Saturday shootout with the biggest fish taking home the prize. US Representative for FishingNosara Craig Sutton and the A-team (First Mate Carl Schmidt, Mate Andrew Herbenick, and Ms. Paula) on the Fishtastic caught a few decent Kingfish, but none worth writing home about.

Over 70 Junior Anglers participated on Friday with the winning Kingfish weighing in at an astounding 42lbs.; on Saturday the general tournament endured some rough seas and soft biting fish but still saw some 30lbs.-40lbs. King Mackerels in the box. Extra special thanks are due to Captain Don Dingman (Hook the Future) and Frank Joura for making this tournament a huge success. We can’t wait to do it again next year.

Tom Cavin (left, grey shirt) and his girls celebrate their winning raffle ticket

It was an especially exciting day for Mr. Tom Cavin of Jacksonville who won a week in Casa Capitan and a half-day fishing with Captain David on the Explorer. He is aiming to bring the whole family down for the week sometime in August or November, and we are stoked to roll out the red carpet for him.

Great end to a great weekend!
