The Discoverer kept rolling on May 26 and on the 5 hour journey they nabbed a nice Sailfish release backed up by a nice Dorado.
Excellent hunting by Captain Carlos.
Mark Rogers and the boys had a big day with Captain Alex on the Harvester, punctuated by big Yellowfin Tuna catches backed up with lots of Sailfish releases.
After all of the Yellowfin Tunas were iced and filets, the mega panga put in work with a bunch of nice Sailfish action.
Stephen Green and the Wanderer tracked the porpoise pods in late-May and snatched a bevy of tasty Dorados from right under the snouts of the dolphins.
Great work by the ultimate hunter, the mighty Wanderer!
The Adventurer welcome Chris Walcott for a morning half day and they walloped a GIGANTIC Amberjack.
This monster easily weighs over 60lbs. and will make for some fine filets; unlike their Atlantic Ocean brethren, the Pacific Amberjacks are great table fare.
Later on they also came face-to-face with a Shark.
This is as close as Captain David wanted to get to this mini Jaws, so they cut the line and let him swim free.
The Wanderer has been all over the migratory porpoise pods that are lurking offshore, schooling up the Yellowfin Tunas. Look at this nice specimen caught by Alexandra on the flagship in late May.
Great work as always by the mighty flagship Wanderer.
The next day the Discoverer welcomed a different group of Texans for an equally big day of offshore action. Karen and Chris Lawrence’s group boated the biggest Yellowfin Tuna of the season so far:
This monster was the big one, however several other nice Yellowfin Tunas were caught:
Mark Rogers fished several times on the bigger boats in late May, but his haul on the Adventurer outpaced them all in term of size and species diversity.
The highlight of the day was this Rooster Fish release.
Then they scored a monster Cubera Snapper. A great fight which yields great filets.
They rounded out the filet bag with some nice Yellowfin Tunas and a Yellowtail Snapper.
Great work by the 23-foot Switchblade.
On May 22, Karen and Chris Lawrence pulled off one of the great feats in blue water fishing: the DOUBLE SAILFISH Release.
This challenge involves keeping both fish separated during the fight so they don’t cut off the lines, and masterfully boat- and fish-handling.
Great work by the dynamic duo of Captain Carlos and his little brother Mate Kevin!
Later in the day filled up the fishbox with these tasty Dorados.
Awesome job from two of our favorite Texas anglers.
On May 21 Mark Rogers scored on the battleship with a nice Sailfish release backed up by a big Dorado.
See if you can tell which half of the fish was on ice and which half wouldn’t fit in the cooler:
Nice trophy release AND filets for the dinner table? All in a day’s work for the Discoverer!
The Wanderer split their last day with Jake Jump’s group between inshore and offshore action. Early in the day they braved intermittent rains to snag two excellent Rooster Fish releases.
Afterwords they went offshore and found a pair of sweet meat fish; these Dorados and Yellowfin Tunas aren’t exactly scale-tippers, but they all look good on the dinner plate.
Great work by the flagship Wanderer!
