On May 21 we had a weird swell direction in Garza Bay, so we prudently moved the fleet over to nearby Playa Carillo for the day.
Captain William isn’t afraid, and he was more than happy to take Cameron Frowick’s group of Tyler, TX-based anglers.
Meredith Frowick wrote this nice post: “The day was amazing! Went out in the Pacific Ocean and we all caught something.”
“All together got 3 yellow fin tuna and 1 Mahi Mahi. Thank you Nosara Paradise Rentals for the fun time. We look forward to 2 more days!” โ with Kyle and Abigail Brookshear and Cameron Frowick.”
David Bryant performed brilliantly on the Discoverer with several nice Yellowfin Tuna catches reported by Captain Carlos on May 18.
Yummy!
Merritt and Brian Wruble, Nicole and Bubba Miles, Glenn and Dahni Bloomfield enlisted the Explorer for a massive day of great Yellowfin Tuna scores.
“We had such an amazing trip!!” Merritt posted. “Thank you to the staff, captains and deck hands!!! You all went above and beyond to make sure we had a great trip with great memories !! Thank you!!!ย Canโt wait to start planning our next trip down there!!!“

The rounded our their fishing experience with this sweet Sailfish release earlier in the trip.
Great work by Captain Carlos on the big battleship!
Big Yellowfin Tuna were on the prowl late April and they put the Wanderer (and her tackle) to the test.
This rod-bending Yellowfin Tuna is definitely a memorable catch.
Jason Stote tipped the scales on the 24th with potentially the biggest Yellowfin Tuna of the season.
This monster was followed up by several other big Yella Fellas, which on many other days would be the big fish in the box.
Later on the hooked up a nice Sailfish for a fun battle.
Check out the Wanderer keeping an eye on the fight in the background.
Both of these sweet billfish were safely released as always.
The Discoverer kept up her hot streak with an excellent round of catches on the 24th. The highlight is clearly this BIG Yellowfin Tuna:
Sailfish also cruised into the spread and ended up safe released as always after a vigorous duel.
The Discoverer scored big with Joel Smith and his family. Check out this MASSIVE Yellowfin Tuna!
Amazing work by Captain Carlos and Mate Kevin to overcome this monster.
The Harvester and angler John Baumgart scored the first big haul of the season for Yellowfin Tuna.
We have scored scattered Yellowfins this year, but not this big or numerous.
This is a great sign of the second high season which is right around the corner.
The last fish of the day was also the last fish ever for this rod which snapped off under pressure…that’s what happens when you battle the world’s baddest fish!
However the fish didn’t fare much better than the rod:
