David Sohm had a monster day on August 9 with the Explorer reporting bunch of tasty Yellowfin Tunas and a big Dorado. Perfect for fresh sushi!
They also released a nice Sailfish later in the trip.
Stephan Badsteiber continued his run of excellent trips on August 8. Top of the scorecard is the very challenging Double Sailfish release.
They also scored a few solo Sailfish releases, plus a decent Dorado for the dinner table.
We recieved this email from Stephan after the trip: “Dear Matty, Thanks a lot, that we could fish with Antonio an Raffa on the Explorer. They are working very hard, we enjoyed every minute on the boat. I also think, that we caught the whole of Costa Rica the last week!
On August the 8th,we got a double strike of sailfish, released another one and caught a Mahi Mahi. Great fishing and big memories for us!”

Fresh Tuna Burrito
On August 7, Ryan Lampasona returned to the Harvester and upped the ante with an excellent Blue Marlin release.
This is the third world-class trophy release in two days for this group, and all that reeling can work up an appetite. Fortunately, a MONSTER Dorado and several nice Yellowfin Tunas will hit the spot.
German angler Stephan Badstieber added a Sailfish release to his hefty scorecard on the 5th.
They also filled the filet bag with several big Dorados.
The Discoverer delivered some nice Dorado catches for angler Sean Wedige on August 4.
Team Callihan enlisted the flagship on July 31, and they were treated to a bunch of excellent catches; this youngster’s face tells the tale:

Our dear friend Roche from just up the road in Playa Avellanas reserved the only open date the Harvester had open in late July, and to say he picked wisely would be an understatement.
This 150+lbs. Yellowfin Tuna is the largest of the season so far, and it wasn’t alone…the behemoth was accompanied by a very respectable Yellowfin Tuna and a BIG Dorado.
Keith Benson scored an absolute MONSTER Dorado with Captain Carlos on July 26.
On July 25 the Harvester welcomed Greg Safer and his family for a knock-down, drag-out Dorado campaign.
These are some of the biggest examples of their haul, as Captain Wilson reports that they eventually lost count of the catches.
Good problem to have!
Rodolfo Cienfuegos and Luis Ibarra joined up with Master Captain William on July 25, and the mighty flagship put them neck-deep in a blue water battle with BIG Dorados.
The catches came in numbers, and they seemed to grow bigger as the day went on.
