Angler Sterling Johnson enjoyed an excellent day of Yellowfin Tuna action on June 16.

These big Yella Fellas are starting to arrive to our area and the are feeding hard on bait schools.

Needless to say we are all over this invasion of Yellow Submarines.

The Discoverer also scored a Sailfish to round out the scorecard. Great day from the battleship.

Record breaking day on the Adventurer as the 23-footer scored SIX Sailfish releases on a single trip!

Angler Sterling Johnson cemented his place in the FishingNosara Hall of Fame with this ridiculous performance.

In the two-year history of this boat only seven Sailfish had ever been released, so nearly doubling that total in one day is amazing.

In more incredible is that Captain Fico managed to coordinate the fights, capture the bill and release all six Sailfish with no harm done to the fish.

Amazing work by Captain Fico and the Adventurer.

“The day was all about perseverance,” writes Patrick Vincent. “It was a little disheartening to see a giant blue marlin smash the teaser before we even had a bait in the water this morning. Then there was a slow morning bite.

Minutes after my afternoon nap, we were rewarded with a double header of sailfish. We quickly released twin 100lb Pacific sails.

Later in the day, we got to see one hell of a show. 200lb yellowfin tuna crashing sardines on the surface. I’ve never seen anything like 200lb yellow torpedoes going airborne while feeding!

What a great note to end our fishing on!

Well, the father/son billfish beatdown in Costa Rica has come to a close. We finished the week with 1 blue marlin, 2 striped marlin, and 11 sailfish. I’m back in Atlanta safe and sound, I guess it’s time to go back to the real world.

The big boats were busy so Team Vincent chose the 23-foot Adventurer for some inshore action on June 11.

Their day broke with a big surprise…in nice Pacific Sailfish had wandered in less than 3 miles from shore.

“Some offshore fish crashed our inshore party,” Patrick reports. “We went 1 for 5 on sailfish, then scored two small yellowfin tuna, a mahi, 3 bonitos, a cubera snapper, a mullet snapper, and a jack.”

“Nice day on a small inshore boat.”

Mike Burling and his crew of legendary Fernandina Beach anglers have put a whopping on a lot of billfish in Nosara over the years, and they added to their legacy with a huge day of Sailfish releases on the Explorer.

They started the day with this sweet Double Sailfish release.

Great fish-handling by Mate Kevin to see to both safe releases.

The crew picked off Sailfish one at a time for the rest of the day, scoring four more releases.

It ain’t easy to keep the pressure on the blue water beasties after a Grand Slam (June 9), but Master Captain William makes the difficult look easy with extreme regularity.

Team Vincent marked up the scorecard again on June 10 with Sailfish being the main score of the day.

“We started the day with a triple header of sailfish, catching 2, an 80lb and a 100lb.”

“We moved the boat another 100 feet, then caught another sailfish, this time 90lbs.”.

“We finished out the day by catching another 100lb sailfish on the way in.”

Patrick and his dad have one more day on the Wanderer, so fingers-crossed that the hot streak continues.
