They also scored a near-decksweeper of a Dorado.

Mike Anderson spent and afternoon with the Explorer on April 6, and in very little time he nabbed this sweet Rooster Fish release.
It’s tournament time up and down the Pacific Coast and while we prep for the local Ship of Fools Tournament, we are also seeing lots of big boats from big marinas scouting out our fishery.
Bottman Swanson was on the reel for this fun-filled day of Sailfish releases.
Add this Dorado for the fishbox, and you got a great day on the water!
Mike Davis performed brilliantly on the 1st, with Captain Fico reporting two successful Sailfish releases.
Dan Johnson from Hatteras, NC took his three Immigration Officer friends Antonio Carrillo,
Luis Rodriguez Valdez and Carlos Ramirez Garcia for a day on the Explorer.
It was Luis’ and Carlos’ first day ever fishing in the ocean.
Everyone had a great time catching groupers and exotic bottom fish
At the end of the trip they had a great meal at Marlin Bills with the catch.
On March 26, Captain Fico reported two Sailfish releases and two tasty Yellowfin Tunas on ice.
Conner Fenn’s group performed brilliantly, and took a little dip along with one of their Sailfish releases.
William Blocher scored TWO fish-of-a-lifetime on March 25 with Captain Fico reporting a pair of Marlin releases.
“Captain Fico put me on the fish straight away,” wrote Bill in an email.
Amazingly, this was on a 5 hour half day trip.
Excellent fish-handling by Mate Antonio to ensure the safe survival of this wonderful.
Also late in the day they hooked up another marlin estimated at 700lbs.-800lbs.
Touched the leader and released. Thought the only photo we have so far is this Bigfoot-esque blurry shot, this fish is a real monster.
The Explorer and angler Enrique Garcia’s family turned in a brilliant performance on the 22nd. This young angler scored a sweet Sailfish release.
Then they scored dinner in the form of this excellent Yellowfin Tuna.

The Explorer had lots of good catches near-shore in mid March, but on the 19th Captain Fico went way offshore to check on the action 30+ miles out.
His faith was rewarded with this big Black Marlin lurking far offshore.
Great release by the Explorer!
Charles Tompkins joined the Explorer in mid-March for a fun run of fishing action.
