Mike Goins spend the 21st onboard the Explorer and despite a slow start, Captain Fico still reports this nice Sailfish release.

Jack Herzlinger is a hardcore Northeast angler who came to Nosara looking to conquer the elusive Rooster Fish. Check out this gargantuan beast:

Estimated around 60lbs., this great looking pez gallo was safely released by Captain Fico.

Another second Rooster Fish was also released.

Great work by the barroom brawler Explorer!
On the 14th, European angler Allan Riboe and his posse stayed inshore with Captain Fico and scored one of the nicest Rooster Fish releases of the season thus far.

The Rooster Fish was the highlight of a trip that also included nice Dorado and Yellowfin Tunas for the filet bag.

Jeremy Wallace and his friends put in big work on the Explorer with a gaggle of great catches reported by Captain Fico.

This Sailfish release was the highlight of the trip that also included this excellent Rooster Fish release.

A big pile of Dorados rounded out the trip.

The Explorer had a banner day on February 3 with angler Brendan Champagne and his group nagging a wide variety of species.

This rocking Rooster Fish release headlined a day that also included a super Sailfish release:

Then the barroom brawler headed to the meat market. The first filets in the basket were these Dorado:

Then it was Yellowfin Tuna time!

Adding to the filet diversity was this awesome Cubera Snapper:

Excluding Marlin, this trip featured pretty much every major species in our fishery…all in a days work for Captain Fico, Mate Elias, and the multi-faceted Explorer
On February 1 our pal Dan Johnson joined Captain Fico and the Explorer for a fun day offshore.

They released two Sailfish, with one of them jumping off close to the boat. Dan also scored this nice big gaffer Dorado:

Great work by the barroom brawler Explorer!
On January 28, FishingNosara Hall of Famer Dan Johnson took local friend Alexander the Coconut Man (Gato) for his first trip offshore on the Explorer.

They released three Sailfish, and caught two nice grande Dorados.

Fun time on the Explorer with Capitan Fico And Marinero Johnny (of the Wanderer, filling in at the Mate position)

Ben Stein and his group posted an incredible day with the Explorer on January 22.

Captain Fico reports a big haul of Dorados. Everyone in the group got multiple chances to fight these mega-Mahis

The fish have been fired up during the month of January, with Captain Fico reporting lots of great action.

This high-flying Saifish is indicative of the type of monsters we’ve been finding very close to shore.

Of course these big billfish gotta eat to stay big, and we have been consistently pulling in the Dorados that make up their bait.

Great work by the 27-foot Super panga Explorer!
The Explorer welcomed Kati McCarter on January 6 and this group blistered the fish.

This swole Sailfish was the highlight of the trip that also included this beefy Yellowfin Tuna.

Big Dorados dominated the rest of the trip. Some of these beasties were well over 40lbs.

Great work by Captain Fico and the Explorer!
