Legendary angler Ryan McCulley added to his stats with a great 6.5 hour day with Captain Fico on January 29.
In addition to this nice Sailfish release, the Explorer nabbed an excellent Dorado for the dinner table:
One of the unique things about fishing in Nosara is that even our trash fish are freaking huge. Don’t believe me? Check out the hulk of this Barracuda nabbed by the Explorer:
Obviously no meat value here, but still a memorable catch.
The Explorer put on a show for Maurycy Krzastek of Poland with a wonderful day of action on January 12.
The fish were fired-up as the Super Panga released not one but TWO Mighty Marlins.
This amazing feat was backed-up with plenty of Dorados so these boys will be fed.

The action on December 31 was a little slow in the morning on the Explorer, but angler Steve Mears showed his dedication with this late-day Cubera Snapper.
Our inshore reef is always ready to deliver a day-saver like this monster. Great perseverance by Mr. Mears and Captain Fico.
Steve Mears pulled off one of the great feats in offshore fishing on December 30 with the Explorer…the Billfish Grand Slam!
Captain Fico and Mate Elias deserve tons of credit in the hunting of these monsters, and of course the safe live releases.

On December 29, Captain Fico delivered the goods for angler Michael Baoley with lots of billfish action backed up by some excellent meat fish.
This small Marlin is likely a juvenile Striped Marlin, but may also be an elusive Hatchet Marlin.
After the Marlin release they nabbed several super Sailfish.
In addition several nice Dorados found their way to the filet bag. What an excellent day of action on the unstoppable Explorer.
Captain Fico welcomed the Charmain Leskosek group on December 28 and found the fish biting early and often.
This Hatchet Marlin was the first catch of the 5 hour trip which was quickly followed by a nice Dorado.
The Explorer capped off the morning trip with a big Sailfish release just before the bell.
Angler Thomas Burton scored a big Dorado with Captain Fico on December 26. Looks like fat filets will be on deck this week!
Captain Fico delivered the goods on December 18 with a swarm of tasty Dorados on ice for the unstoppable Explorer.
