Ken and Brenda Russell’s group posted another stellar day of action on March 18, highlighted by this incredible Marlin release by angler Misti Nolan.
They also snagged a Sailfish release and a nice Dorado while they were offshore.

Captain William didn’t rest on his laurels on this 8 hour trip, as he made it back inshore in time to squeeze another magnificent fish into the day.
Great Rooster fish…certainly looks like it still has some fight in it!

Larry Komenda and Misti Nolan and Ken Russell were back in action on the 14th and they once again threw down the gauntlet with some big mean Pacific Sailfish.
The action was hectic all morning, with four more releases added to the scorecard.
Larry Komenda and Misti Nolan and Ken and Brenda Russell hail from upstate New York and we were stoked to get them some much needed fun in the sun. Their last trip to Costa Rica was during our legendary late-August bite and saw them scored a single-day record of Marlin releases on the Explorer
This time the mighty Wanderer also treated them to multiple trophy fish releases. They started the day inshore with a hefty Rooster Fish release:
Then Captain William headed off-shore and got them out in front of a pack of hungry Sailfish.
The Sailfish were starving for bait and First Mate Alex was more than happy to feed them some fat ballyhoo with a side of 9/0 circle hooks!
Everyone on board got a release and it was all big smiles for the Russell group.
April 5 brought a banner finish to the Russell Group’s week of fishing in Costa Rica. Captain William pointed the flagship Wanderer offshore to Sailfish City and these New Yorkers showed off the billfish fighting skills that they have honed over the last seven days.
The ladies’ kicked off the action with Sailfish release for each of them, then the boys strapped up for some big-time billfish battles.
First Mate Alex is on top of his game and released these fish with calm confidence.

The final send off was a beefy Dorado for Ken that satisfied his ‘fishing wishing’ list.

“We wanted to let you know that we all had an outstanding time in Nosara… the place was great, the staff were wonderful, and the fishing was beyond our expectations!”
“We had to add on another 1/2 day with David and Kevin when we found that we were facing two days in a row without going out on the water! Altogether we wound up with 3 full days on the Wanderer, 1/2 day on the Explorer and 1/2 day on the Adventurer…. all the boatsย were great as were all the crews.”
“I’ve got to say that William and Alex were genuine sweethearts and I can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed going out with them—even the girls!…. aside from 32 sails, we caught 3 dorados (one being my “bucket list” grande mahi!).

Ken Russell and Larry Komenda couldn’t stand the fact that they would have to go two days until their next trip, so they snapped up Captain David’s only open day and returned to the blue water for more action.ย
The Sailfish bite was hot as fire and the lines were popping off frequently throughout the trip.ย

Awesome work by Mate Kevin to safely handle these still-green monsters.
They ended up with six Sails released for the day…great performance from the legendary Super panga.
Ken Russell and Larry Komenda left the ladies at home for their trip on the Adventurer, but fortunately they brought home the bacon in the form of this nice Dorado:
Ken Russell, Brenda Russell, Larry Komenda and Misti Nolan kicked off a 5 day fishing adventurer with our team on March 30, and these New York anglers got acclimated to the Pacific blue water very quickly.
Right off the bat they had a fine Sailfish release backed up by a tasty 30lbs. Dorado.
Another great Sailfish release followed, and that was only the tip of the iceberg.
Even the less experienced angler can best a Sailfish on the Wanderer, thanks to Captain William’s calm demeanor on the controls and First Mate Alex’ touch in the cockpit.
They got a taste of a Double Sailfish hookup later in the day, however one of the high-flyers managed to spit the hook and escape capture:
Great work by this posse who still has a full week of fishing ahead of them.
