We welcomed Hong Kong angler James Zhang for a battle on this side of the Pacific on December 21. He performed beautifully with this super Blue Marlin release:
Ship of Fools Tournament stalwarts Ivan DeLuca and Jimmy Nichols returned to the Discoverer on December 15 and put on a show! Check out these multiple Marlin releases:
For what it’s worth, that will be worth 1500 points come tournament time in April. They also brought home dinner with a big Dorado backed up by Yellowfin Tuna.
The Explorer posted the trip of the season so far on December 14 with Jim Becker and FishingNosara Northeast Representative Mark Cooney each nagging a Marlin release.
Mark’s fish was a great catch, but Mr. Becker’s Blue Marlin is truly the highlight of the day.
Shane Sheltra’s group got started on the Wanderer with a feisty Blue Marlin release on December 3. It’s amazing to see these big fish flying above the water.
They also scored a Dorado for the dinner table. Excellent work by Master Captain William and the flagship Wanderer.
Dennis Garcia’s first fish was a memorable one; check out this 200+lbs. Blue Marlin scored on the Discoverer on November 22.
Arkansas angler David Gibbons followed up with another Marlin release on November 21 with Captain Carlos on the Discoverer.
They also nagged a two super Sailfish releases.
This group didn’t return to shore empty handed; after the billfish releases they added a Dorado for the dinner table.
Great fishing stories start with hardship. David Gibbons’ flight into Costa Rica was delayed one day due to bad weather. “We will be there tomorrow come hell or high water!” wrote David in an email from the airport.
This Blue Marlin also adjusted his schedule, and both angler and fish met up for a big battle on November 19th.
These Arkansas anglers also had appetites from the travels, and these dinner table-worthy Dorados with certainly fill the need.

Marlin Alert on the Harvester! Captain Alex and the Broussard group released this excellent Blue Marlin on November 13
After the safe release, the Harvester scooped up dinner in the form of this Yellowfin Tuna.
The Harvester scored another monster Blue Marlin release on the 5th.
