Ed Showalter’s group kept scoring big every time they hit the water.

On March 21 they scored 6 Sailfish releases on a morning half day. That’s more than a fish per hour if you’re keeping score at home.

Team Showalter has been gaining momentum at a rapid pace, but nobody saw this one coming….how’s 18 Sailfish releases sound?

When the day starts with a double hook-up and release, you know it’s going to be a fun day.

Captain William tracked down a whole chorus line of kicking Sailfish and First Mate Alex lined them up like the Rockettes.

One after the other these fired-up Sailfish came pouring into the spread.

After lunch the bite turned white-hot with not one but a second Triple Sailfish Hookup!

Ain’t happening bro…The blue beauty kept releasing Sails until the last minute of the 8 hour trip.

It’s worth pointing out that all 18 releases were ‘clean’ meaning that the circle hook was fully released and removed from the fish…a lot of times when you hear of sportfishing teams ‘releasing’ large numbers of Sailfish that they are using the so-called Snatch release or South Florida release; this technique is safe and quick for the humans but leaves the hook in the fish, meaning a slow death for the billfish.

We don’t ever snatch release and it’s worth commending First Mate Alex and our other mates on their mastery of the clean release.

Amazing fishing for Team Showalter who once again prove that if you put in the hours on the blue water, the fish will reward your time investment!

Ed Showalter’s group mixed up their fishing all week, and on March 21 their time on the Explorer brought a pair of sweet Sailfish releases.

After getting acclimated to the blue water on the Adventurer, Ed Showalter and his group boarded the Wanderer for a trip to Sailfish City.

Captain William followed the porpoise schools to the feeding grounds, which First Mate Alex prepared an irresistible spread.

Right on cue, this high-flying beauty hit the hook and the fight was on! Laura belted up for the fight as the crew of the Wanderer put the moves on this high-flying Sailfish.

Laura did a great job keeping this animal under control as it zig-zagged to both sides of the boat.

Another excellent release by First Mate Alex and a nice notch on Team Showalter’s scorecard.

Ed Showalter brought a group of great anglers from the lake-dotted countryside of west-central Ontario, Canada; this crew is ready to fish HARD with five trips planned this week.

They got off to a fast start with Captain Carlos on the Adventurer with a fine Sailfish release; fitting that this group’s youngest angler caught the first billfish from our smallest boat.
