River Fishing Report – July 2014

Javier led the way with several nice snook, with the big one weighing 33 lbs. :

Javier wasn’t the only one finding success at the River Mouth.

Chimpy scored big fish all month as usual…this guy can catch some Snook!

Manuel also checked in at the River Mouth this month with some rocking Robalos!

Javier scored a HUGE Snook today at the Nosara River Mouth! Estimated at just over 30lbs., this is one of the biggest lunkers of the season so far for the Fuppernos.

The whole beach stopped what they were doing to get a picture with the behemoth.

Great work by Javier (aka Rey Robalo) on this fantastic catch!

River Fishing Report – June 2014

Nice fish, Manuel…but I know we taught you how to take pictures a little better than this! Jajajaj

Javier and the boys from Fuppernos (Friends of the River) are on point keeping the area clean.

The seasonal rains rolling through the mountains makes all the refuse roll down to the river… thankfully the Fuppernos are on the job to protect this fragile community resource.

Also some big news for all friends of the Nosara River: after much lobbying and patience the government has recognized the Boca del Rio Nosara as a certified ‘Blue-Flag Zone’.

Symbolized by this new flag at the entrance, this means steep fines and possible imprisonment for nare-do-wells who dump toxins or other chemicals into the river.

This is a big step in the right direction and all the credit is due to Javier and the Fuppernos…these guys and girls understand that a clean river is vital to the future of the community and will now be protected for the next generation of river anglers:

The Nosara River Mouth yielded an excellent bounty of big Snook this month.

Nosara Paradise Rentals GM, Fuppernos presidente, and Mayor of Nosara Javier Hernandez took to the seas today on the Wanderer.

Flanked by Chief Mechanic Marino, Driver Primero Freddy, and Mate Kevin (of the Explorer), Senor Javier released an awesome Sailfish just a few miles from shore.

Nice work by Mate Kevin on the rope-n’-release!

Javier’s got a family to feed, so after the trophy release he dropped a bait to the reefs and hauled in this big Cubera Snapper.

All in a day’s work for the Mayor!

River Fishing Report – December 2013

Martin Ramirez (left) and Javier Hernandez led the charge as usual this month.

Local Legend Chimpy also clocked many hours at the river mouth and has these great fish to show for it:

Javier also brought along son Dario for a few fishing adventures and brought home some good-eatin’ permits:

River Fishing Report – October 2013

You didn’t think that the rainy season was all work and maintained for the boys in Nosara, right?

They made time this off-season for a field trip to the Caribbean coast to fish the Rio Colorado River mouth. Check out this adventure:

The boys brought their ace reels from Nosara and deployed the Snook catching skills that have made them famous. Check out these monster Robalos:

Of course the Fuppernos are super active keeping up with the trash back home at the Nosara River mouth…it’s a family affair with Javier and son Dario joined by uncle Grevan. Great work boys!

Captain William was joined by Javier and Marino of Nosara Paradise Rentals for and end-of-year Yellowfin Tuna harvest. As we bring this epic season to a close, it’s super important to remember that the most important element of FishingNosara are the people.

Matty joined Captain Carlos and Nosara Paradise Rentals GM Javier Hernandez for a short afternoon on the Adventurer and caught one of these used-to-be-rare-now-suddenly-common Wahoo.

Tasty eating all around and good fun on the 23-foot pocket knife.

River Fishing Report – July 2013

The River has been full of great action this month with Snook and other yummy species finding the hooks.

Take a look at these beauties:

That’s what I call bringing home the bacon!

After many months of pleading by the Fuppernos, the government sent some scientists and officials to test the river water for contamination.

There are suspicions that poachers upstream are using chemicals to harvest fish from the river and that is obviously dangerous to all Nosarenos.

The scientists took samples and are currently running them at a government laboratory.

Also the Fuppernos (Friends of the River) are staying on task by keeping the river clean and free of garbage; the return of the seasonal rains means that lots of junk is flowing down the mountain and only through the vigilance of the Fuppernos can the river thrive.
