On the Discoverer, Andrew Mendenhall’s family added to their stocked scorecard with another great Sailfish release.
Andrew and Richard also nabbed dinner with this Dorado and Yellowfin Tuna combo.
We received this note from Andy after the trip:
“Jill’s massive Dorado was an amazing fish in the midst of multiple billfish and other large dorado. Carlos and David, just like William and Elias are very skilled captains and crew. Remarkable humans, as well with close family and histories that go back generations.”
“We have had a truly amazing vacation, the first one for my father, sister and I- together in 35 years. All of the boat crews, the staff, Eduardo and family have all been amazing hosts. We are grateful!”
“We are definitely going to book a time in later March or April of ‘24 and will hopefully have a group of about 8-12 for lodging and fishing.”
“Jill will reach out to Bob and I know you are going to love to learn more about her vision and history of fishing in Minnesota!”
Best,
Andy
Brad Smith had a great time on the Harvester, marking the scorecard with a nice Sailfish release.
He also scored a Dorado for the dinner table.
Salvatore Carrubba joined the mega panga on December 8 and enjoyed an excellent Sailfish release and mutiple tasty Dorados.
Chameleon Andrews had a fantastic day with Master Captain William on the Wanderer.
Master Captain William flexed his photographer muscles with these amazing action shots, and Mate Elias saw to the safe release of this Striped Marlin as always.
They also dueled a high-flying Sailfish.
In addition to the billfish releases, Team Andrews nabbed several tasty Dorados for the dinner table.
The Discoverer scored a sweet Sailfish release on the 7th.
Kimberly Curley posted this online: “Great day fishing on Discoverer with Capt. Carlos and 1st mate David. We landed a huge Sailfish and 6 beautiful Mahi. Carlos was expert in the operation of the boat, assisting with fighting the fish and landing them safely. David was relentless checking and changing the bait and teasers for optimal attraction and catching multiple species.”
The season is so young, but we already have our first sure-fire, first ballot FishingNosara Hall of Fame inductee:
This amazing 50+lbs. Dorado was scored by Andrew Mendenhall’s group on December 6. This monster was the largest of nine Dorados caught.
The Discoverer also added a Striped Marlin release and two Sailfish releases.
On any other day this level of billfish action would be an excellent performance, but the mega Mahi-Mahi makes this a day to remember.
Jim Kirk and the Harvester pulled off a wonder Sailfish release on December 5th.
They also boated a Yellowfin Tuna for the filet bag.
Juan Montelongo’s group upped the ante on December 5th with a wonderful Sailfish release.

Salvatore Carrubba’s scored a wide variety of catches on December 4.

They also scored a quartet of Yellowfin Tunas.
The highlight of the trip was this super Sailfish release.
