Dr. Kelly Huber and her family of North Florida anglers braves some big seas and stormy skies to get a crack at Extreme Panga Fishing. After a very difficult first day on the water, they rebounded nicely with excellent inshore action.

The Good Doctor scored this Bonita early in the trip…hey slow down! We got our sights set on better-eating fish than a Bonita!

For instance,. this Cubera Snapper couldn’t resist the tasty morsel and swallowed the Bonita whole (including the hook):

They followed up with a nice Yellowtail Snapper.

Great perseverance from these Ponte Vedra folks was rewarded with a sack full of filets.

Captain Carlos and the unstoppable Explorer are performing brilliantly during this ‘off-season’…how does SIX Sailfish releases sound to you?

We’ve been trying to tell y’all, but sometimes pictures are worth a thousand words:

Great fish handling by Mate Fico who is always working on his game, even during September and October.

Just another day from the hardest-working boat in Garza!

Just because the boats are afraid to fish does not mean the fish are afraid to eat.

The never-quit Explorer is powering through this ‘off-season’ with three great trips with newlyweds Veronica and Larry Tatum.

On September 9 they ventured offshore for the first of three 5hr. trips and scored a pair of Sailfish along with a nice bycatch of Rainbow Runners and Mole Snappers.

The next day they added another nice Sailfish, plus another pile of Snappers.

Larry also got the best of this 25lbs. Rooster Fish:

Nice fish-handling by Mate Fico to see this fish to a safe live release.

That funky fish on the left is called a Barbero Snapper and is certainly a rare catch in our area.

September 12 was getaway day, and once again Larry and Veronica found Sailfish success.

Great work by the legendary Explorer and the fearless Captain Carlos.

Captain Carlos finished the season on a strong note, with multiple excellent Sailfish releases on the scorecard for late-August.

The 26-foot Super Panga is a known expectation-shatterer, and her performance this season should silence anyone who says you need a big boat to catch big fish.

Anglers young and old alike found billfish success on the barroom brawler, plus Captain Carlos added some nice Yella Fellas for the filet bag.

Another year, another great performance from Captain Carlos and the unstoppable Explorer.

The Explorer continues to shine as an inshore warrior, and on a recent trip she ran the gamut with a nice Rooster Fish release backed-up by some football-sized Yellowfin Tunas.

They also hooked up Jaws’ little brother, and Captain Carlos smartly cut the line to save his fingers.

All in a day’s work for the 26-foot barroom brawler.

Man we love California anglers! A good friend of Shea McIntee (of Stoked on Fishing fame) named Ed Smith has brought his boys down to Nosara for a fun week of surfing and fishing.

On August 17 young Sean scored this excellent Sailfish release on the Explorer.

Ed writes: “Sean joined the billfish club today with his first sailfish on light gear.”

“I on the other hand came closer to my cubera snapper goal, losing a monster on a big popper in a few feet of water.”

“Nothing like seeing a 12-inch wide tail/back come crashing down on the jig! Off to buy more poppers tomorrow!”

ย Still, Ed scored some excellent eating fish with a Yellowfin Tuna, Ponpano, and Snapper all on ice.

Wonderful Double Sailfish release on the Explorer!

This pair of monsters attacked the super panga’s spread but Captain Carlos and Mate Juan Carlos were ready for them.

Once again the good fishing karma found this group of CCA North Carolina anglers and they performed brilliantly.

All fish were safely released, putting the perfect bow on this fishing gift.
