Stacey Rector,ย Ray Wittelsberger and their crew took to the mighty Wanderer for a billfish hunt and they pulled off one of the most memorable feats in blue water fishing: The Double Sailfish Release
This hectic moment was made easy for both angler and fish alike by Captain William’s steady hand on the wheel and First Mate Alex’s world-class fish handling. Both fish were safely revived and released without incident.
The multi-faceted Adventurerย made an amazing discovery today less than a mile from shore: the elusive Congrio!
It’s fitting that a gentleman with a name like David Sugar would catch the sweetest-tasting thing in the ocean, and the lobster-like meat from this half-fish, half-eel is unbelievable.
In addtion to the excellent meat this creature is a unique fighter because it has the ability to swim backwards. Great work by Captain Carlos and by angler David Sugar.
Who says the billfish bite turns off before the full moon? Captain William and First Mate Alex of the Wanderer laugh at that notion as they release this incredible Sailfish just as the moon begins to turn.
This fish hit hard and fought well but was no match for the flagship this time. A nice safe release means he will get another chance to do battle again really soon.
John Rozas is a very experienced angler from the Northeast and on his recent trips with the Explorer bested this excellent Pacific Sailfish.
Wonderful release by Mate Carlos as Captain David of the Explorer once again flex their muscles!
Gordon Potter took to the Adventurer and was treated to a lovely Red Grouper. Check out Captain Carlos’ double hook deep drop rig…twice the hooks means twice the chance to catch a deep blue beastie.
He also backed it up with lots of Jack Crevelles.
Earl Newton is a old boat man from Jacksonville, FL who we met back in April when we purchased FishingNosara’s next great vessel the Discoverer. We instantly became good friends and he has served as an advisor on The Discoverer Project since the beginning.
Of course you can’t hang around us very long until we talk you into going to Nosara, and sure enough Earl and his posse spent a relaxing week at Nosara Paradise Rentals plus took to the water to hunt down some Pacific billfish.

We are stoked to report that Earl and the boys absolutely knocked it out of the park on their fishing days with multiple Sailfish releases and some tasty Dorados for the dinner table.

Wisconsin anglers James Isham booked up the Wanderer on St. Patrick’s Day and they celebrated with some big-time bottom fishing!
The planer / spoon rig produced a small Bonita right off the bat; this feeder fish would be the perfect bait to lure one of the big boys out from their reef hiding spot. Sure enough something big hit the rigged Bonita and James buckled in for the fight of his life!
What a fish! This Cuberra Snapper weighs at least 40lbs. and was followed close behind by another equally large Snapper.
That’s a heckuva impressive inshore haul by the mighty Wanderer!
George Shipley and the family spent the morning snorkeling in San Juanillo bay and they observed lots of great underwater features. Check out these shots from their journey under the sea:
The Adventurer strikes again! Client Kim Hius took a short ride on the pocket knife and pried up this tasty Jack Crevelle less than two miles from shore.
Excellent quick hitter by Captain Carlos on the craftiest boat in the bay.
The billfish were scarce today, so the crafty Captain William switched up the spread on the Wanderer to target some dinner-time filets. As always the flagship delivered the goods for client Henry Noguera and his group.
In all they boated four nice Dorados with the big one estimated at 40lbs.
Great work by the blue beauty that always brings home the bacon!
