After a fruitful morning with Dave Buckner, the Explorer and Captain David were pleased to welcome back three-time FishingNosara Hall of Famer Dennis Paul for his customary warm-up trip on the 28-footer. Dennis has plans to tackle the offshore monsters this week, but first-things-first…get some good edible fish to fill the fridge for the week.

Later they pulled this big Needlefish off the reef…it may look ugly but tastes delicious.

Barbara added this feisty White Tuna to the menu which includes three very different types of meat. Great array of catches by Captain David and Mate Kevin on this trip

After a three-species morning Captain David added this three more species in the afternoon…that is some amazing inshore fishing by the legendary Explorer!

Three-time Hall of Famer Dennis Paul has done it again! This guy is an unstoppable angler who has quench his thirst for blue water action many times in our stretch of ocean and his performance on February 9 is surely another day for the record books.

Dennis righteously released four total Pacific Sailfish and as usual he was neck deep in the action; this ain’t the kind of client who watches Captain William and First Mate Alex do all the work!

As expected Dennis Paul turned in another noteworthy performance as the only single angler to release four billfish on one trip this season. In fact the last time a single angler caught more than four on the Wanderer was tournament time last season and we all remember how that went:

Dennis Paul took his final swipe of the week at the marine population on the Wanderer and they had a quartet of sailfish visit the spread throughout the trip.

Of the four potential strikes Dennis and the boys on the big blue beauty caught three. As always Captain William kept the fights short and First Mate Alex coordinated all three safe releases.

The best thing about Dennis Paul is, even though he sits atop the FishingNosara Hall of Fame with three separate enshrinements he still approaches every trip with the enthusiasm of a first timer.

Compare the big smiles on these Sailfish releases against his catches from years past and he is clearly just as pumped up now as ever.

Dennis Paul has a habit of catching gigantic fish down in here in Nosara and on his third trip of the week he added a new species to his scorecard: BIG Yellowfin Tunas.

Captain William set the Wanderer far offshore (15 miles) to find the blue water and once the big blue beauty found the blue water the bite was on. Dennis caught a total of five Yella Fellas ranging in weight from 25lbs. – 40 lbs. All Yellowfin fight the same way no matter their size and these lunkers skyrocketed and zigzagged with the same velocity as their smaller brethren.

Only with the right combination of boat, tackle, and angler could these monsters find their way to the fishbox.

Excellent work once again from Dennis Paul and the flagship Wanderer.

Two time Hall of Famer Dennis Paul has returned to Nosara for another four day fishing expedition. His first trip of the week was on the Explorer with Captain David and around 9am Dennis cemented his world-class reputation with this Hall of Fame caliber Rooster Fish:

This monster is one of the biggest pez gallo we have ever seen and upon releasing it Captain David estimate her at 80+ lbs.

Dennis Paul added a few nice Yellowfin Tunas for the dinner table after becoming the 1st three-time FishingNosara Hall of Famer; it is also worth pointing out that his three enshrined fish were all different species.

Mr. Paul still has three days of fishing coming up so look out for this red-hot angler.

Dennis Paul was back on the Explorer and caught eight nice Yellowfin Tunas and a Rainbow Runner, then capped it off with a MASSIVE 65lbs. Cuberra Snapper. This catch is certainly Hall of Fame-worthy and gives Mr. Paul the distinction of being the only double-enshrined member to date.

Newly-inducted Hall of Famer Dennis Paul was back in Nosara on May 4, and once again he had the fishies running scared. He earned his enshrinement by releasing a gigantic Blue Marlin back in February on the Wanderer and this time is on the Explorer mercilessly beating down the inshore species.

Captain David took the Explorer out to his secret spot and they packed the fishbox with haste and reckless abandon. Their scorecard shows two Jacks, a Rock Snapper, and seven nice Yellowfin Tunas.

We knew it was only a matter of time until the lady in the blue dress came calling! Client Dennis Paul booked the Wanderer for an offshore billfish hunt.

With the rain swirling in the distance, this big girl came tearing through the spread right at 2:30pm. The fight was on as this Marlin bucked, bobbed and weaved all over the place.

After 45 minutes of combat, the Marlin was defeated and Dennis Paul had added one more safe marlin release to the Wanderer‘s scorecard.

The bite is starting to catch fire and we are spending this weekend prowling for pelagics. Look out for some great weekend action!
