Everyone know the the Hernández family is synonomous with FishingNosara. That’s why is was a great honor to welcome Maria Montiel Hernández for a fun fishing vactaion in late January.

Over on the Explorer, Maria nabbed a nice Yellowfin Tuna.

She also had fun at the River Mouth as Javier aka Maria’s cousin aka Rey Robalo brought two more Snooks under his domain.

Looking good!

The first day of the season filled the refrigerator with Yellowfin Tuna filets, so on the second day Craig and Javier went hunting for trophy fish.

Javier belted up for the first Sailfish of the day. This crazy beauty was darting back in forth above the water.

After a nice battle she was safely released as always.

Craig was next into the breach and waged an epic battle with a big Blue Marlin.

Dario Hernandez joined his father for this trip and snagged a few sandwich-sized Dorado filets.

This trip was also a training run for Mate Antonio, who most of our clients know as our panga boat driver; he will be assuming the mate’s role on the Explorer this year, and will be training with Captain Alex on the Harvester to continue improving his skills.

Our crew has been busting their butts on the Casa Bianca build, so they took a Saturday morning trip inshore to clear their minds and fill the refrigerator.

Javier, Antonio, and Cruz Reyes used old-fashioned handline rigs to bring in these beautiful Cubera Snappers.

Looks like many families in Nosara will be eating well tonight.

For the first time in 59 days we have a fishing report to share with the people. The motor on the Explorer has been repaired, but of course she needed a quick water test.

Captain Alex took the helm for the test drive and was joined by Javier and Freddy for a 2 hour tour. They threw out the ceder plugs and the Yella Fellas couldn’t resist.

Clearly the fish missed us, because the boys boated THIRTY Yellowfin Tunas as fast as they could reel.

Do the math: 4 minutes per fish is world-class angling!

These filets will keep the team motivated on their construction projects, and remind us why we work so hard. What a blessing to get back out on the water!

November River Fishing Report

It’s been a fantastic month of fishing at the mouth of the Rio Nosara.

Wilson Mendoza took a break from being the mate on the Harvester to wet a line at the river mouth. The catch above was from November 14 and the pair below are from the 19th.

Then on November 27, Javier (Rey Robalo) and Mark Trevino nagged this wonderful 28lbs. Snook at sunset.

Always the conservationist, Javier released this monster alive and well.
