Another fantastic month of action on the Rio Nosara.

Our our buddy Cumi scored this excellent Robalo to kick of the month.

Of course the Hernadez boys scored a bunch of excellent fish on a nightime expedition.

Javier, Grevan, and young Dario certainly brought home the bacon on this night.

Also this monster Snapper was hauled in by local man Clemente:

But by far the most impressive catch of the month was this grande Robalo scored by local man Cuinco:

Intermittent rains means that the Rio Nosara is flowing strong and the Fuppernos (Friends of the River) are all over the big Snook.

Fresh off his great performance at the 2015 Ship of Fools Tournament, Bob Pease scored this sweet Snook on the morning tide:

Javier has stayed busy with a catches of Snook and Permit on the late-afternoon bite.

This Snook is on the larger side of what the Fuppernos have come to expect from the Rio Nosara.

Local fisherman Angel Ruiz Leal scored the biggest Snook of the month, easily weighing over 30lbs.

It’s not all fishing for the Fuppernos…part of being a “Friend of the River” is to take care of her. This month they organized a clean up of the nearby Ostinal River

Awesome work this month for the Fuppernos!

April 2, 2015

There has been lots of great river mouth action led by Javier aka Rey Robalo this month. The highlight was a surf fishing adventure with Texas client Mike Loughrey:

“This friend caught a beautiful robalo this morning and freed it to make eggs and fight again in the future! Everyone wins!” wrote Javier.

Kudos to the boys for releasing these big Snook…while not a mandated catch-and-release species, Javier has great respect for the Snook stocks in the river and keeps only a fraction of his catches.

Also this month were some excellent catches of Ponpano and Permit…ceviche, anyone?

Great work as always by Javier!

The Discoverer has kept cooking with gas in the New Year with a fantastic run on Sailfish.

Captain David and Mate Juan Carlos have found their billfishing rhythm and are posting double-digit release numbers.

Also they have scored some excellent meat fish, from the usual Dorado to the rare-for-this-time-of-year Yellowfin Tuna:

Great work by the battleship!

November 29, 2014

The Wanderer scored some excellent Sailfish and Dorado on a late-November full day trip.

In the evening, Javier and the NPR construction team sneaked aboard for a little relaxation after a long summer of rehabbing the new office in Guiones Beach.ย

They squeezed every drop out of this trip, and though did not score any late-day catches they did take in a wonderful sunset.

Great end to the first month of the 2014 season for the mighty flagship.

River Fishing Report – October 2014

Road trip time for the Fuppernos (Friends of the River)!

Javier, Freddy, and the boys loaded up and headed east across the country to a little fishing camp on the Rio Colorado.

The highlight of the trip was this beefy Robalo (Snook) snared by Freddy Poloma:

Also it was great for the guys to try their techniques in a different fishery, plus there was ample opportunities for good bonding amongst the Fuppernos.

They returned home after a great long weekend on the east coast to find that torrential seasonal rains had washed a mountain of trash into the Rio Nosara.

As always Javier and the Fuppernos rallied the troops for a river clean-up to keep this resource in pristine condition.

Since then there has been excellent action at the river mouth. Check out this monster Snook hooked-up by local anglers Tanayo and Alonso Aragon:

Great action from the best kept fishing secret in Costa Rica, the Rio Nosara!
