The River has been full of great action this month with Snook and other yummy species finding the hooks.

Take a look at these beauties:

That’s what I call bringing home the bacon!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usAfter many months of pleading by the Fuppernos, the government sent some scientists and officials to test the river water for contamination.

There are suspicions that poachers upstream are using chemicals to harvest fish from the river and that is obviously dangerous to all Nosarenos.

The scientists took samples and are currently running them at a government laboratory.

Also the Fuppernos (Friends of the River) are staying on task by keeping the river clean and free of garbage; the return of the seasonal rains means that lots of junk is flowing down the mountain and only through the vigilance of the Fuppernos can the river thrive.

Recently the rains also brought a treat: this amazing triple rainbow! What a great blessing:

River Fishing Report – June 2013

Alejandro Garcia is the newest member of our team at Nosara Paradise Rentals and FishingNosara and has already established himself as a super ambassador of the pura vida spirit. Turns out Alejandro is a bad-to-the-bone river fisherman as well.

It’s fair to say he had a great weekend of fishing in early June. On Saturday the 8th he hooked up this nice Snapper:

Then on Sunday he brought in this monster Snook:

Whoa! This monster tips the scale at just over 30lbs.

June 1, 2013

It’s staff fishing day for the crew of Nosara Paradise Rentals as General Manager Javier Hernandez was joined by Marino and Grevan from the property staff for an inshore harvest on board the Explorer.

El Jefe helped break in our new set of Penn Spinfishers as the boys brought home a nice Cuberra Snapper, 8 Yellowfin Tuna (20lb.), 3 White Tuna (15lbs.) plus a small Dorado. This is the second time this week that Captain David has captured the four major meat species on a single trip and by the looks of these reports the Explorer may put the fish market out of business.

Great catches for some great guys, even Marcos is getting in on the fun!

May 17, 2013

The Wanderer hosted the A-Team to today with Craig Sutton and Matty being joined by Nosara Paradise Rentals GM Javier Hernandez and security chief Eduardo Hernandez. The action got off to a quick start with this beefy Sailfish release.

Shortly after the release Eduardo got a big Dorado on the line and brought him all the way into the cooler. Estimated at 35lbs., this Mahi will definitely keep the farm fed for a while.

Eduardo has been part of our family since the beginning, yet we were shocked to learn that El Gato has only fished inshore prior to this trip. Great results from what we hope is the first of many trips offshore to the blue water.

May 1, 2013

Time again for the monthly Nosara Paradise Rentals / FishingNosara company fishing outing. Javier was joined by his wife Ana and son Dario, brother Grevan, Cathy, Arturo, and Freddy for a relaxing afternoon on the Wanderer with Captain William and First Mate Alex.

We’ll let you know if they caught anything shortly. Regardless, it is always great when the crew gets a chance to relax and enjoy a day on the ocean.

River Fishing Report – April 2013

The action in the Costa Rican rivers moves as quickly as the freshwater pours from the mountains into the sea. The Fuppernos (Friends of the Nosara River) report lots of excellent catches this month, but let’s start with a catch from the nearby town of Samarra.

This 34lbs. Snook was caught on March 4 by Luis Cordero 3/4oz duster. Great fish and it was certainly the talk of the town this month.

However our boys at the Rio Nosara weren’t slacking this month. Check out their best catches:

Our main man Alejandro got his fresh ceviche squared away (above) while our old buddy Cumi had two nice fishing days this month.

Also saw some nice catches of various species from Jack to Permit to Ponpano:

March 31, 2013

So we realize that it is Easter Sunday and that our whole posse is made up of strong Catholics who place family first, and therefore Craig decided to give everyone the day off.

What do they do with their day off? Go fishing of course!

Man, I love our crew! This great day of fun on the Wanderer featured el jefe Javier Hernandez, chief mechanic Marino, our newest member of the office team Alejandro, and their wives and kids.

They brought in a few fish while they were at it, celebrated not just the highest of holy days but also put to bed the first half of the high season.

Nosara Paradise Rentals and FishingNosara have been moving at a breakneck pace since November and it is essential that our group gets some time to celebrate and reflect on jobs well done.

River Fishing Report – February 2013

The action at the Nosara River mouth has been excellent this month with many catches of Permit, Corvina and Snook.

Senior Javier Hernandez (aka Rey Robalo) has led the way with innovative new tackle mixed with old-school perseverance and patience. Check out these monster Snook caught by the master surf angler this month:
