Great work by Captain Alex and the People’s Champion Harvester!
Back in 2012 we hosted the Ganoe family of Jacksonville, FL as the winners of the initial FishingNosara Family Cup presented by Jax Kayak.
Little did we know then that Maegan Ganoe would chose Nosara as the spot to get married to her now-husband Jose Morales:
Of course no trip to Nosara is complete without a fishing mission, and the newlyweds took to the Harvester on May 17 for and incredible day of blue water action.
The headliner of this trip was a big Blue Marlinย that snagged THREE! baits simultaneously…fortunately Mate Wilson took command of the cockpit and kept all three anglers on the same page.
What a monstrous fish, and a great release by Captain Alex.
“Thank you Alex for putting us on this huge Blue Marlin to celebrate Dads birthday & wrap up our wedding week here in Nosara! It took Jose, Daniel & I over 30min to reel it in! ?? Blue Marlin off our bucket list”
Later the mother of the bride Melita Ganoe nagged dinner in the form of this nice Dorado:
Best of luck to the happy new couple from FishingNosara.
Phil Miller scored the fish of a lifetime on May 13, with the big battleship Discoverer reporting this amazing Blue Marlin release.
The Wanderer welcomed a fun-loving group of Texas anglers on May 8.
Merritt and Brian Wruble, Nicole and Bubba Miles, Glenn and Dahni Bloomfield all brought great attitudes to the blue water and the big monsters were happy to pay a visit from below.
Two Sailfish were released throughout the trip, including this big one:
The highlight of the trip was this monster Blue Marlin releases; certainly a true fish-of-a-lifetime.
Great work by Captain William and this fun group of anglers…hold on to your hats because they have more trips planned this week.
The team endured a Marlin drought in mid April, but the keen-eyed Captain Carlos broke the streak on April 29 as the Discoverer nagged this awesome Blue Marlin release with anglers Dan and Natalia Kenel, Paul and Dee Wirsing and Mike and Gayle Fuchs.
They also nagged this sweet Sailfish release:
“Just wanted to send a note letting you know we had a wonderful time fishing on the Discoverer with Captain Carlos and Kevin.”
“In three days we caught one sailfish, one Marlin, and a tuna. Lost the other Marlin at the boat โฆ but it was still a great day!”
“You all did a great job and we had a great time!”
Dee Wirsing
Our new pal Chuck Boyer took a day off from his retreat over at Blue Spirit to pursue Blue Marlin, and the barroom brawler Explorer delivered the goods. Check out this beast:
They followed up with multiple nice Sailfish releases:
Amazing day of fishing — Fico & Johnny took great care of me! I really appreciate their patience w/ my limited spanish, but we made it work. My only regret was not being able to take a couple lovely Mahi filets into Nosara for a nice dinner.
Thanx to the Fishing Nosara Team for an awesome experience!
Chuck
(That’s “Senor Carlos” to Fico & Johnny)
All honest true praise!
My thanks also to Matt, Javier, & Yoseth for taking care of my local logistics. It’s those seemingly little tasks that can also make or break how a day kicks off.
You’ve got a top notch local family!
Pura Vida

Kathy and Steve Cartier enlisted the big battleship for a full day of fish-fighting on March 26. Check out this mammoth Blue Marlin release:
After the world-class billfish release for the trophy case, Team Cartier nagged a bunch of Yellowfin Tunas for the refrigerator.
Multi-time FishingNosara Hall of Famers Ken and Brenda Russell are back! Joined by their usual motley crew of Texas anglers including Larry Komenda and Misti Nolan, this good-vibes group threw down the gauntlet on their first day of fishing on the Wanderer.
After some early Sailfish action, Brenda shot to the top of the scoreboard with this MASSIVE Blue Marlin release:
Hold on to your hats folks…Team Russell will be here for two weeks and you know that they are ready for battle!
On March 11, angler Charles Platz joined the Marlin club with this monstrous Blue Marlin release:
The battleship backed it up with four Sailfish releases throughout the day.
Great work by the big battleship!
We are so close to the blue water that sometimes real magic can happen. Consider this report from March 9:
Rick Noonan headed offshore about 10 miles to the deep blue water, and immediately started scoring billfish.
Several nice Sailfish releases were backed up by a feisty Striped Marlin release.
Rather than stay offshore to pursue another Marlin (thus securing the ultra-rare Billfish Grand Slam), Captain Fico headed inshore and scored another trophy: This excellent Rooster fish.
The Explorer continues to amaze!
