Jake Winchester has made himself a regular with the FishingNosara team with a half-dozen trips run in the last year. After a whole bunch of Extreme Panga Fishing he stepped up to the 31-foot Wanderer for his May 7 trip.

They tackled some tough Sailfish and notched the scorecard with two nice releases. This was the first time deep sea fishing for Tiffiney Walls from Enid, Oklahoma, but she fought this Sailfish like an old pro.

A special welcome awaited their return to Garza: this majestic Balena (‘whale’ in gringo) breeched the surface and slapped his tail, much to the delight of the clients.

Great fishing and great scenery on the big blue flagship Wanderer.

On May 7 the Explorer scored big with several Sailfish released.

With Captain David now on the 31′ Discoverer and Captain Carlos (now the Explorer‘s full time captain) welcoming his new baby home, Mate Fico and Mate Kevin were on board splitting the duties at the helm and in the cockpit.

We are proud to report that there was no drop off on the scorecard, and the Super panga did what she does: release billfish and deliver big smiles for her clients.

Seth Moore’s party really lit it up on the Discoverer on May 4 with a gaggle on Pacific Sailfish releases.

These guys have put in the time and are reaping the benefits. Each of these Sailfish are true monsters with the smallest one still estimated over 100lbs.

Great work by Captain David to dial-in our new fishing-fighting weapon the Discoverer.

Captain David hit the ground running with the Discoverer, as we welcomed Jeff Vancini for some blue water billfishing on May 2.

We told you that the sightlines on the new Discoverer would yield some great never-before-seen angles, and these pictures tell the tale.

Amazing how much more detailed the fish is once you get 15 feet off the deck.

Great work by Jeff Vancini and the unstoppable Captain David!

Big catch on the Wanderer for Peter Sohlden’s crew. These guys put in the time this week with a full scorecard of Sailfish, Yellowfin Tuna, and Cubera Snapper. Only one thing was missing…

BOOM! Big Black Marlin on the mighty Wanderer!

They also added another Sailfish release to their haul to finish out a great week of fishing in Costa Rica.

After a few days of assembly and shake-down, the Discoverer is in the water and catching fish!

Captain David has accepted the promotion to the new 31′ battle wagon and has tapped Mate Kevin to stick with him on this transition. On their first trip they were joined by Mate Fico and young Garza legend Hernan for an offshore trip with Craig Sutton and Ms. Paula.

Our new vessel headed to the blue water flanked by the FishingNosara flagship Wanderer and the super panga Explorer, and this three-headed fishing monster found a big mancha of spinning porpoises.

You know what that means….Yellowfin Tuna time!

Craig nabbed the first 15lbs. Yella Fella, then young Hernan strapped up for an Ahi of his own.

Ms. Paula notched the first billfish in Discoverer history with this fine Sailfish release, assisted by Mate Kevin.

In addition to dialing in the fishing tools for the new boat, Captain David and Mate Kevin are also experimenting with new photography angles to best deliver the blue water action to your eyeballs. With a 21′ tower and all kinds of good sight-lines it will be no time at all until we can all see how fun fishing on the Discoverer can be.

All smiles all around on the unflappable Discoverer!
