Rolando Rodriguez hails from the hard-fishing town of Tampa, FL and came to Nosara primarily to hunt the monster Snook that live in the Nosara River. However the siren’s call of the nearby blue water could not be denied as Mr. Rodriguez booked the Explorer during his brief visit to the area.

Hello! This Pacific Sailfish is a total monster and Rolando was stoked beyond belief to releases this exquisite pelagic.

Great work by Captain Carlos and Captain David…when this much experience is on the boat the fish better watch out!

People often ask us if they should go offshore or stay inshore, and we give them the answer that all anglers love: Both!

Peter Karpinski booked the legendary Explorer and got all he could handle both offshore in the blue water and inshore where the meat fish like to school up. He started the day with two excellent Sailfish releases as the first fish came blasting through the spread around noon

Excellent release by Mate Kevin to ensure the safety of both fish and angler. On the next fish Peter was feeling a little brave and decided to bill the fish himself…not quite as easy as Mate Kevin makes it look, huh?

With the trophy fish released, Captain David pointed the Explorer inshore and Peter had a field day on nice-sized Yellowfin Tunas. Take a look at this trio of tasty treats:

Great work by Captain William to head this monster off at the pass and by First Mate Alex on the clean handling and release of this wonderful creature.

The Wanderer has hit her stride when it comes to top-notch billfishing this season, as exemplified by client Randy Powell’s recent trip where he released a nice Sailfish in the morning then followed up with a monster Marlin in the afternoon.

The Sailfish came crusing through the spread just before 10am and Mr. Powell put the heat on him to keep the fight under 15 minutes. A great start to to what would become a fantastic trip.

After three hours of quiet trolling, the long outrigger line sang the high-pitched song that could only mean on thing: Marlin!

This beast put on a heck of a show on her way but Captain William stayed two steps ahead of the bucking Marlin leading to a safe clean release by First Mate Alex.

Jessica Bartoszek and her friends spend three nice days on the Explorer with Captain David and on the final day of the trip he delivered a memorable Sailfish release.

This Sail dragged out a mile of line but the tough-as-nails Explorer backed her down quickly and brought her alongside for a quick, safe release.

Great work by the angler, Captain, and crew of the baddest Super Panga in the sea, the Explorer!

It’s a family affair when our buddy Wade Boyken comes to visit, as this time he was joined by two youngsters eager to show the world how it’s done in the hard-fishing community of Merritt Island, FL. Wade and his boys had a triple sailfish release on their last trip to Nosara, and on their 2013 excursion the first fish of the day was a true fish of a lifetime:

This Blue Marlin weighs well over 400lbs. and is the kind of monster that would challenge a full-grown man; goes to show that these Florida kids can fish!

Even Captain William wanted to get a picture taken with this monster; regular readers of this report know that the Master Captain usually stays behind the camera, so the fact that he wanted this fish for his scrapbook really speaks to the might of this Marlin.

Later a nice Sailfish hit the spread and the boys worked together to bring her in. No fighting chair necessary when you have excellent teamwork like this:

What a fantastic family trip for Wade Boyken and the boys; we can’t wait to see them around Nosara again in the future.

Great Sailfish action on theย Wanderer! Dave Wenzel’s group took to the blue water and hooked up two nice Pacific Sailfish.ย

Conway Johnson was the angler for the first fish, backed up by young Alex Wenzel on the release. Nice FSU hat son!

Excellent fish handling by First Mate Alex to ensure the safety of the fish and the anglers, and great hunting as always by the master Captain William.

Dave Wenzel is the latest in a long parade of Jacksonville, FL anglers who have bested blue water billfish on the big blue beauty the Wanderer. On June 22 his posse got a show from a big-shouldered Pacific Sailfish.

Great fish by Dave Wenzel as the Wanderer notches two more safe Sailfish releases. From Dave’s Facebook page: “Two nice sails on the first day…Captain estimates them at 80 and 90 lbs. All smiles and sore biceps”

Chuck and the Good Doctors topped all of their great performances to-date with a fanstastic pair of Marlin releases backed up by a big Sailfish release. Most anglers spend their whole lives trying to best a big Pacific Marlin, so to see these fellas capture two on a single trip is truly and accomplishment.

The first Marlin came in just before noon and was a deep-water brawler; not a lot of jumps and surface action but a lot of brute strength about 40 feet under the water.
