As the tourism season enters a two month lull, the Fuppernos (Friends of the River) have been working their tails off at the River Mouth. Check out this fantastic Snook scored by Javier aka Rey Robalo on October 2:

This is the highlight of what has been a great few weeks of river fishing:

Our main man Alejandro nabbed an excellent Snook (above), while our old friend Manuel put some food on the table with a variety of catches:

Local legends also weighed in some whoppers:

Most recently Javier reeled in a wonderful Snook at sunset:

Also the staff of Nosara Paradise Rentals took a break from their off-season maintenance tasks to enjoy a Kayak adventure up river:

Pura vida at its finest!

River Fishing Report – December 2014

Javier and the boys have been hitting the river hard this month with lots of nice catches.

Client Nelson Piche scored a nice 8lbs. Snook and and a pair of Corvinas:

Later in the month our friend Phong Nguyen added a trio of small Corvinas:

From shore or from Kayaks, the Fuppernos have the Rio Nosara all figured out.

Nice work at the river mouth!

August 1, 2014

Javier led several great fishing campaigns at the Nosara River mouth this month, and has begun to explorer up the river and into the surf via Kayak.

Javier managed to snag this little Mangrove before it escaped into the weeds.

He also scored a nice Ciero Mackeral out past the breakers.

Of course the Rio is thriving with a wide array of creatures, including this family of brightly colored crabs.

The highlight of the month was an awesome Snook scored by our new friend Don Anglin. This hardcore shore angler serves as the Northern California Coordinator for Heroes on the Water, which is one of our favorite organizations.

His Snook hunt began in Tamarindo (70 miles north of us) and he worked his way south looking for the perfect fishing spot; his emails to Craig during his odyssey are priceless as he battled rains, limp bait, and his own traveling party weariness of the journey.

Finally, he got hooked up with this MASSIVE Snook under Javier’s careful tutelage:

Don was all smiles as he shared his triumph with the other Fuppernos:

Hi Craig,

I know you must be a busy man with everything going on here, so thanks so much for answering all my questions before and during my stay in Nosara.ย  I think I made a life time friend of Javier, defiantly my kind of fisherman and guy… needs work on the kayak surf landings though…Lol!!!ย  wish I has film rolling on that one, but hey, happens to the best of us… he also still kicked my butt fishing, so he has last laugh…

Love my New Fishing Nosara Hat!!!ย  Guys are already hitting me up about coming down to Nosara after some postings I have been doing… I’ll send your way or come back with them…

Either way, I know I’ll be back soon..

Thanks so much and

Pura Vida!!!

Another tranquil day on the Nosara River! Mike Young and his group took to the pleasant water for a gentle half day of floating and sightseeing. They saw lots of birds and reptiles, plus came upon a nice group of SUP riders also cruising the river.

Our Kayak Tours are very popular for both anglers and nature lovers alike, plus they are a cost-effective way to spend a lovely afternoon. Looks like Mikey and his folks found the perfect way to relax between offshore fishing days.

Bob Hartin and his posse followed their fantastic day on the Wanderer with an equally thrilling day of kayaking on the Rio Nosara. A full floatilla of eight kayaks with ten total participants set off from the highlands and drifted about 3 miles to the mouth of the river.

At this junction our guides broke out the rods and started hunting for the crafty little mangrove snappers that live along the banks and the super snook that patrol the mouth. The group had some nibbles and some mysteries but no amazing fish this time.

All in all it was a great day of fresh air and beautiful nature on a fully loaded Kayak Safari Tour.

Special thanks to Kayak Mike of JaxKayak.com for making this event super special. We can’t wait til next year and the third annual FishingNosara Family Cup.
