South Carolina angler Jonathan Wright enlisted the Wanderer for a day inshore of fishing and snorkeling.
The highlight of the day was this big Rooster fish release (above), however they followed it up with a smaller pez gallo later in the trip:
Also the clear waters around the Pink island made for some fun snorkeling.
All in a days’ work for the mighty Wanderer.
Javier isn’t the only Fupperno that has scored big in the river this month.

Captain Carlos on the Explorer showed this family a fun fishing time with a wonderful Sailfish release:

The inshore madness continued on April 2 as the flagship pulled myriad species of fish up from the shallow reefs.
Fresh of his great river mouth scores of Snook, client Mike Loughrey and his group scored Jack Crevelles, Amberjack, and the elusive Blue Jack Crevelles.
With four experienced anglers on deck, First Mate Alex got the rare opportunity to see how the client’s usually feel…that is, sitting back and watching some pro anglers fill the fishbox:
There has been lots of great river mouth action led by Javier aka Rey Robalo this month. The highlight was a surf fishing adventure with Texas client Mike Loughrey:
“This friend caught a beautiful robalo this morning and freed it to make eggs and fight again in the future! Everyone wins!” wrote Javier.
Kudos to the boys for releasing these big Snook…while not a mandated catch-and-release species, Javier has great respect for the Snook stocks in the river and keeps only a fraction of his catches.
Also this month were some excellent catches of Ponpano and Permit…ceviche, anyone?

Hubble Keller continued his fishing hot streak with the Wanderer on April 1 as Captain William set up shop inshore to hunt for big Cubera Snappers.
These are true monster fish, especially to fight on a spinning rod. These Penn 7500 Slammers are fit for the task!

Alabama’s own Andrew Nichols brought his kids along for an inshore hunt, and First Mate Alex was well prepared with lots of Mullets in the livewell.
This little Cierro Mackeral was the ice-breaker, and was a sign of a great day to come.

The Wanderer headed a few miles offshore in the afternoon and snared a nice Sailfish release.
The Explorer closed out the month on a strong run of Sailfish releases.
The more trips that Captain Carlos and Mate Kevin run, the more they mark-up the scorecard with Sailfish releases.
Clearly these guys are sharpening their skills to a razor’s edge.

Our old pal Hubble Keller brought the whole family down for a few days of fishing fun in Costa Rica. Three generations of Kellers were onboard for a combination inshore/offshore trip on the Wanderer.ย
After this nice Sailfish release, the flagship retreated inshore to ply the 80-foot waters over Pincha Padre.
The big boys were a little sleepy, but the group still had action on some Bonitas and Jack Crevelles…nothing for the dinner table but a bunch of fun nonetheless.

On March 29 Roy Forster brought his kids along for morning half day on the Wanderer. They stayed inshore and enjoyed some good rod-bending action.
After warming up on some feisty Jack Crevelles, Roy scored a big old Ponpano…perfect for cevieche!
The Wanderer bid adios to Roy and the family, then welcomed Hanna Copp and her kids for another round of inshore action.
This Cierro Mackeral is certainly a tasty fish, plus they added a few more Jack Crevelles near the end of the trip.
