Brian Vetrone and his friends had a landmark day on the unbeatable Explorer on the 2nd. First up was the standard ration of Dorados:

They boated four tasty greenies ranging from 25lbs. – 40lbs.

Around 1 pm the line screamed off the reel, indicating that something big had taken the bait. Brian stood tough in the face of this 180lbs. Sailfish and Carlos executed a safe release after a 25 minute fight.

Excellent work as usual by Captain David and the Explorer!

Francois Bernier has been in Nosara since November and has waited patiently for his turn offshore on the mighty Wanderer. He scored some excellent Dorado on the Explorer last month and we are stoked to report that the greens kept coming in for him and his group on this trip.

Francois was joined by Mark and Paige Patrizio of New Jersey and the whole group had a blast.

“I thought a trip on the great blue would cheer them up a little,” wrote Mr. Bernier in an email. “And it did… Although we set out for sailfish, we took in four respectable dorados. The team of William and Alex is simply exceptional.”

By mid-day they had three fish in the box, and added some more action later in the day. “Paige had her first experience reeling in a fish without external assistance and she caught it like a pro. The nice fresh lunch thrown in was a pleasant surprise. I tell you, all aspects of this day were top-notch.”

Way to go Francois, Mark, and Paige on a fruitful day of marine life harvesting on the Wanderer!

Chuck Darner and the boys just won’t let up on these fish. Two days removed from the first Marlin release of the season, these Jacksonville anglers joined Captain David on the Explorer for a little visit to the fish market.

The Super panga kept her end of the bargain as illustrated by this Dorado estimated to weigh upwards of 35lbs. Add these filets to the Wahoo from their previous outing and I’d say the Darner boys may be coming back to North Florida with some heavy suitcases. Great work by the unstoppable Captain David and the Explorer.

Colorado boy Josh Landers joined Captain David of the Explorer for an inshore reef hunt on November 27 and they stumbled into the school of Dorado that have swarmed our area the last few weeks.

These two are just a sampling of the green monsters they put on ice in the course of their 5 hour hunt. Great work by the pound-for-pound champ Explorer!

The Wanderer was pleased to welcome Brooklyn’s own Timothy Matusch for an fun-filled day of action on November 27. They stayed with what has been working recently, namely targeting the tasty green gold called Dorado.

The blue beauty performed admirably with four fantastic Dorados on ice by trip’s end. These tasty filets should provide many magnificent meals of Mahi-Mahi.

Last year we welcomed some amazing anglers from the state of South Carolina highlighted by Katherine Fanning and Hall of Famers the Thames Family. This year we were stoked to welcome Rick Morgan and his family from the Palmetto State to continue this fine angling tradition.

Rick and his ladies didn’t let their fellow South Carolinians down; in fact they turned in the best Dorado performance so far in this young season. They boated four tasty Mahis with the big fish tipping the scales at 45lbs. In total they caught over 100lbs. of fish…that’s a lot of yummy vittles!

Once again the flagship Wanderer proves that she is fit for battle with all manner of Pacific marine life. No matter what’s biting, the mighty Wanderer is catching!

Buck Davis has a spirit and energy as big as Georgia, and despite his excellent performance on the Explorer (November 19) we weren’t surprised that he upgraded to the 31-foot Wanderer for his second excursion to the blue water.

The Davis group continued their Dorado devastation, this time boating three of the tasty green monsters. The first Dorado (above) was typical-sized and weighed about 25lbs. The next two were giant-sized, weighing in between 35lbs.-45lbs.

What a great performance by this South Georgia-based fishing group! They tested their mettle against some of the baddest fish in the Pacific and kept the fishbox full of fresh filets. Even First Mate Alex couldn’t help but stike a pose with this beauty:

Buck Davis has come to Nosara from the wonderful town of Kingsland, GA just up the road from our home office in North Florida, and he has brought the healthy appetite for fun that makes South Georgia famous.

His group got things rolling on the Explorer for an inshore meat harvest with plans to move offshore in the Wanderer later this week.

The fishbox got full early with this nice 30lbs. Dorado; perfect for sandwiches and sushi! Later in the day they scored a handsome Amberjack estimated to weigh 25lbs.

Let’s see what fortunes the deep blue water hold for these Georgia anglers later this week.

William Lukof wanted to get his place at the recently crowded Dorado table and chose Captain David of the Explorer to make his reservation. The 26-foot super panga trolled about 5 miles offshore and found this meaty Mahi on the end of the line.

Mr. Lukof made short work of this fish and returned to shore with a few hefty sacks full of fresh fish filets. Great performance by the indefatigable Explorer.
