Another great trip for Scott and his group today on the Wanderer. They added to their tasty Dorado haul with two more monsters.

They also added the first big Yellowfin Tuna of the season with this excellent catch estimated at 25lbs.

Later in the day Scott released a nice Pacific Sailfish. Estimated to weigh around 115lbs., this is the first billfish release of the season for the flagship.

Nice wig…I guess the Halloween spirit stuck around a few extra days for this posse. As always this billfish was safely released and we look forward to catching him again.

We’re back baby!

ย

After a grueling off-season of repairs and maintainance, the mighty Wanderer was back on the water for a fruitful half day trip with the Scott Pennty group.

Great conditions and clear water meant that the Dorados were on the feed; check out these tasty green monsters.

Captain William and First Mate Alex delivered another fun, safe, and productive fishing outing for their clients and this is surely a sign of things to come for the flagship.

Great start for the big blue beauty, but stay tuned because we have lots of trips booked this week…should only get better!

Although some big swells tore through the area this last week, the Explorer found a break in the weather on August 22 and delivered an outstanding trip for clients Buff and Melanie Hendricks from New Smryna Beach, FL. They scored two nice Pacific Sailfish releases and tabled one of the biggest Dorados of the season.

Let’s have Mr. Hendricks’ take on the action: “We fish out of Ponce Inlet often, so the short ride to large fish was terrific. We were very comfortable with Captain David andย  Carlos and felt we were in excellent hands.”

“The fishing was superb, (just look at the size of the Dorado) and you can count on us doing it again.”

ย

Melanie had this note to add: “Captain David and Carlos are a great team! We were very impressed and had a great trip!”

More great action for Paul Crevello on the Wanderer with more Sailfish releases and reports of the all-of-the-sudden rare Dorado. First up was a lone hungry Sailfish who invaded the perimeter around 11:30am.

As usual Captain William kept the fight short and sweet and First Mate Alex executed a picture-perfect release. Their second Sailfish came in with the daily 1pm bite and by half-past one this fish was swimming free.

Around 3pm this feisty little Dorado came in whacking at the teasers and the boys snared him with an excellent bait and switch throwback. We are accustomed to seeing big Yellowfin Tunas this time of year so the appearance of this tasty greenie is a welcome sight. Yummy!

Paul has one more day on the Wanderer booked this week so lets keep those fingers crossed for more good action.

Richard Harris and Morgan Trible enlisted the mighty blue Wanderer for their second of three trips and the offshore harvester was ready for work; however the legendary Captain William would not be along for this trip as he recently suffered a cut to his foot.

The doctors say he will be back in action in no time, and until then the helm of the Wanderer is being manned by her long time First Mate.

Captain Alex Moreno brought along Carlos of Explorer / Adventurer fame and these two young guns put on a show for Morgan and his dad. First up was a awesome Dorado estimated to weigh 30lbs.

Close on the heels of the tasty Mahi was an equally scrumptious Yellowfin Tuna also tipping the scales north of 25lbs.

With dinner accounted for, Alex and Carlos set out the billfish spread and like clockwork a powerful Pacific Sailfish came tearing through the spread just after 1pm.

Richard Harris kept the line taut as Alex spun the Wanderer into the evasive fish. Carlos kept things in order in the cockpit and Mr. Harris released his first-ever Pacific Sailfish at just after 1:20pm.

Great work as always by the crew to keep this fish calm and unstressed for another safe release!

Morgan and Richard have one more full day on the Wanderer so lets keep our fingers crossed for continuing great action.

The Wanderer‘s smooth ride, spacious interior and family-friendly crew make her the first choice for family fishing trips. Katherine brought her two boys along for a 2.5 hour inshore trip and they returned to shore with four small Dorados and two big smiles!

Captain William is a great father and along with First Mate Alex they do an outstanding job of teaching the craft of sportfishing to youngsters.

More importantly they create a safe and fun atmosphere so all anglers can relax and enjoy the trip. Great work all around!

James Petter brought the whole family for a quick 2.5 hour trip on the Wanderer. They stayed inshore and caught an array of fish including some small Dorados, tasty White Tunas, and a big ole Jack Crevelle.

Another super family outing on the Wanderer; everyone caught fish and got hooked up with big smiles!

Steve Wallace took a ton of filets today on the unbeatable Explorer as the incomparable Captain David delivered two meaty fish for the dinner table. The highlight was this 40lbs. Yellowfin Tuna that is every ounce as good as it looks.

These Coastal Carolina anglers didn’t let up and their efforts also yielded this excellent 33lbs. Dorado.

Steve has booked another day on the Explorer so keep an eye right here on the FishingNosara blog for all the up-to-the-minute reports.

Client Bob Hartin and his group brought a great energy to the Wanderer today and on cue the mighty blue beauty delivered the goods for these fellas. Captain William headed offshore for deep water and the boys got off to a fast start.

This awesome Pacific Sailfish came roaring in just after 10am and with Bob on the reel and First Mate Alex coordinating the fight, this billfish release was smooth as silk.

With the trophy fish secure on the metaphorical mantle, the Wanderer switched to the deadly skipping ballyhoo rig and deployed a smaller hookset. The target species for this rig: Dorado!

Look at all the activity in the top of the water column. Captain William has a way of finding spots like this Marine Metropolis.

A trio of 35lbs. monsters were the highlights, but they had two more in the fishbox that weighed at least 25lbs.

Great fun fishing with this group of fired-up hombres…enjoy the filets fellas, but why not let Alex cut them off of the fish first?!
