The Explorer had a sweet Valentine’s Day with a wonderful Rooster Fish release backed-up with a nice Sailfish release.

Love is in the air, but these love-ly fish are back in the water.
The Explorer got into a Sailfish battle on February 13, with reports of some nice releases from the Super Panga.

The Explorer performed brilliantly on February 9 with Norman Lindsey scoring a very challenging Double Sailfish release.

This would be the clear-cut highlight for most trips, but Norman also nagged a wonderful 50+lbs. Dorado.

“I just wanted to say how impressed I was with your captain and mate, and the entire experience,” Norman wrote to us via email. ‘Everything was top notch, and my wife and I had a blast!”
Texas angler Billy Meeks knocked Rooster Fish off the bucket list on February 1.

Captain Fico and Mate Antonio released this beauty shortly after the photo.
Lauren Frederick’s group finished out their 3-day fishing campaign with another fun day of offshore action.

They nagged several Sailfish releases, then added a nice Yellowfin Tuns for their end-of-trip dinner. Most importanly, they have a bunch of great fishing memories to last a lifetime.

Captain Fico welcomed Lauren Frederick and her friends for a fun day of billfish battles on January 29.

After a pair of nice Sailfish releses, they cooled off with a dip into the Pacific blue water.

Great work by the Explorer.
Captain Fico posted a banner day with Lauren Frederick’s group on the 27th. An early Sailfish release was a great way to start the trip.

Throughout the day swarms of Yellowfin Tunas came running through the spread, and the super panga was ready to catch them.

The kept five big Yellowfin Tunas ranging from 30lbs. – 40lbs.

Captain Fico delivered the goods for anglers Wendy Oberg and Richard Wenk on the 22nd. They started out with an inauspicious first catch as this bird stole a bait from behind the boat.

After the bird was sefely released, these anglers scored a tasty Yellowfin Tuna for the dinner table.

Then the Explorer moved inshore and captured this lovely Rooster Fish.

Safe released as always. Great work by these Wisconsin-based anglers on a short 5hr. trip.
Everyone know the the Hernández family is synonomous with FishingNosara. That’s why is was a great honor to welcome Maria Montiel Hernández for a fun fishing vactaion in late January.

Over on the Explorer, Maria nabbed a nice Yellowfin Tuna.

She also had fun at the River Mouth as Javier aka Maria’s cousin aka Rey Robalo brought two more Snooks under his domain.

Looking good!
The bottom fishing has been on fire in mid-January; the Explorer boated a big Congrio and a bucket-full of small Red Groupers.
