John Rozas struck again on the Explorer after his great Sailfish release earlier in the week. Check out this gigantic Broomtail Grouper that Mr. Rozas hauled off the bottom:

That is a whopper. Here’s an excerpt from John’s email:

David fileted it, and I took one half home. Gave the other half to David for his family and friends. The head went to Marcus, for fish head soup.

I froze filets overnight in freezer in room, then wrapped them in a bubble wrap type freezer bag I had from fishing in Alaska. Came home and filets were still rock solid. Will be eating tonight.

David Lukof locked into a battle with a super 300+lbs. Marlin on the unbeatable Explorer. Take a look at this monster:

According to our buddy Jeff (who was filming): “Dude had heat stroke after this. He’s been chasing a marlin for 30 years. He said ‘I’d fight it till I died’ he might have actually been close!”

They also cleaned up inshore with a 12lbs. Mullet snapper, a 10lbs. white tuna, and a few other assorted fish all on ice. Incredible day both inshore and offshore for the unbeatable Explorer and the indomitable Captain David.

John Higgins won’t go hungry this week!

Check out this haul of tasty reef-dwellers that Mr. Higgins put on ice along with Captain David on the Explorer.  These Mullet Snappers are very delicious as sushi or as small filets.

Clearly the bottom bite is back and the barroom brawler is ready to beat them down! Great work by the 26 foot Super Panga and John Higgins.

Mike Burling is one of our favorite repeat clients, and after lighting it up last year on the Wanderer this time he chose the 26-foot Explorer as his fishing platform of choice. The super panga was up for battle and Mr. Burling’s group was fit for the task.

The inshore bite provided good action early in the trip with four nice Mullet Snappers (12-14lbs.) and four equally-sized White Tunas on ice by Noon. In the afternoon the Explorer ventured to Sailfish city and released three beauties estimated at 70 lbs., 90 lbs., and a whopping 120lbs.!

Captain David and Mate Carlos saw to the safe releases of all three monsters as Mike Burling proved that his success last year was no fluke, but in fact the norm for this excellent Northeast Florida angler.

John Danner comes to us from the picturesque island community of Davis Island in the Tampa, FL area which is known for it’s world-class sailing. In fact every Thursday night there is an open regatta where local sailors can mix it up with traveling cup teams in Hillsborough Bay.

Well, Mr. Danner got into a different kind of sailing over the course of three trips with Captain David on the Explorer.

This is the kind where you release multiple Sailfish from a 26-foot panga boat!

Mr. Danner was all smiles when he came back. Here is the email he sent us:

Craig, Matt, and Arturo,

Again thank you for an awesome trip.  Everything was done beyond what I had expected. A friendly arrival, excellent advice, outstanding fishing, and complete satisfaction from start to finish. I have all ready told my friends of your outstanding operation. Thanks again for the trip of a lifetime.  Cannot wait to go again.

Albert Aucoin and his sons took to the blue water like only a bunch of good old Tampa boys will: 3 days, 3 trips, all on the super Panga Explorer with Captain David. They earned many tasty filets highlighted by this 25lbs. Dorado caught on February 6 and 15lbs. Mullet Snapper caught on February 7:

Excellent work by a group of hardcore CCA anglers and the 26-foot Explorer

Ronnie and Patty Soud of Jacksonville have long been friends of ours here at FishingNosara, and it was a real thrill to see these great folks capture a true fish of a lifetime with Captain David on the Explorer.

This 40+lbs. Roosterfish release is a bucket-list item for many anglers yet the Souds made it look easy. Safe fish handling and release by Captain David and a great memory for Ronnie and Patty…all in a day’s work!

January 28, 2013

Our good pal Mike Young took to the Explorer in the afternoon and Captain David headed right back to where the fish were in the morning with similar results. No Snapper in the afternoon, but a nearly identical 40+lbs. Dorado was found on the end of the line

The Explorer continues her mission to deliver consistent, fun action for all of her clients. Great work as always by Captain David and Mate Carlos.
