Dan Johnson from Hatteras took Yoseph Castellon (CR Operations Manager for FishingNosara) along with Manuel Obando.
They had a fun day with mulitple Red Groupers, a nice Congrio, and two Sailfish releases.
From the “Small World” department:
Dan Johnson from Hatteras was happy to welcome his new friend Antonio Carrillo to fish with him on Wednesday the 24th.
They met at the immigration line in Liberia airport last year while Dan was wearing a Fishing Nosara shirt when Antonio called him next in line
After many questions from Antonio, Dan said he fishes with Fishing Nosara and William Mendoza is my captain of many years
Antonio quickly said he is my father
It’s a small world
Dan has been trying to get Antonio to fish with him on a day off from the immigration police and it worked out great to fish with his father.
So on February 24, the Wanderer welcomed this most distinguished guest:
This may be a vacation for Officer Carillo, but the same can’t be said for the fish…the family scored over ten Red Groupers, plus a nice Yellowfin Tuna.
This trip was a ‘who’s who’ of local talent. Captain Fico of the Explorer came along, also a guest of Mr. Dan Johnson.
The fishing karma was so good that they scored a double Grouper catch even though the snap swivel was left unbuckled.
Near-shore Sailfish release were a welcome diversion.
Also Captain Fico scored an outstanding Yellowfin Tuna.
Here is Father and Son with an excellent Dorado:
“With the best Captain, my father.” Antonio posted.
The bottom fishing has been on fire in mid-January; the Explorer boated a big Congrio and a bucket-full of small Red Groupers.
Captain William scored a quartet of nice Red Groupers on the 5th; these are excellent tasting fish and fun to catch.
Great work by the flagship.
Captain Fico stayed inshore on December 5 and nagged a bunch of nice Red Groupers for angler Justin Seufert.
Great to see that the inshore fishery is producing.
Rickie Crews took a break from offshore warfare on November 15th to spend the day with Captain David on the Adventurer.
The switchblade pried up a nice array of Red Groupers; a fun fish to catch and super-tasty to eat.
Trent Christensen and his son had a fun five hour trip on the Adventurer on March 20. They came away with this nice Red Grouper.
Captain David started his season off with excellent scores of Red Grouper and Yellowfin Tuna.
It’s always a blast to catch these tasty beasts just a few miles from shore.
Jim Bruner and the Harvester had to wait out some rain on the 2nd, and got back to battle on the 3rd.
Big Dorados were the staple catch of the day.
A late-day Red Grouper also came along for the ride.
Impressive haul, especially for the so-called ‘off season’.
Captain David finished off the 2019 season on August 26 with excellent inshore action.
This sweet Snapper was joined by some small Yellowfin Tunas and Red Groupers.
Excellent send-off for the sneaky inshore switchblade Adventurer.
