Wayne Hopkins snagged a legendary Blue Marlin release on June 12 with the mighty Wanderer.
Wayne has fished out of Garza for years, first appearing in our fishing report in 2010 with a nice Sailfish release.
Clearly this massive Marlin is a new high-water mark for Mr. Hopkins. Great work by Captain William and First Mate Alex on this wonderful release!
Sergio’s group stayed hot on June 9! The Wanderer and Discoverer seized upon a bait ball frenzy near shore scored a ton of fun-fightin’ Rainbow Runnner, some with decent size to them.
The big one of the group came late in the day as both boats were just about to pull up anchors and head for home…goes to show why you always leave a bait in the water, even when your are packing up!
Sergio’s group of Tampa anglers have found excellent action on the inshore reefs outside Garza Bay. On June 8 the Wanderer scored this excellent specimen of Rooster Fish:
We released this beauty as usual, but this group didn’t leave empty-handed. They got this monster Pinfish, and also released a small Dorado…c’mon back when you’re 50lbs. buddy!
The Wanderer welcomed Jack Walker, Sue Garcia, Beverly Lanier, Alice Trautman, plus Ray and Terrie Overholser for a great trip to the blue water.
Captain William stalked a school of feeding Dolphins out to the feeding grounds, and the blue beauty set up shop on top of a feeding frenzy.
This Sailfish release broke the ice and was a great sign of things to come. The crew nabbed this beefy 40+lbs. Yellowfin tuna fresh after the billfish release.
The real highlight was this 60+lbs. Dorado. Everyone wanted a picture with this monster which took several hands for the lift.

David Cooper’s brief trip on June 5 yielded a few medium-sized tunas:
Better than a jab in the eye, and the big smile shows that Mr. Cooper understands the game of blue water fishing.
Remember when we said that the Wanderer finally got refitted with our new custom Poseidon Rods?
Well they showed up just in time for client Brad Bentley and his group to fight a nice Blue Marlin.
The Wanderer is dialed-in this season and with these new canes in the quiver their is no stopping the mighty flagship!
Richard Tullis helped finish out a great week of fishing for the Odd Couples, with this fun Rooster Fish release.
The Odd Couples really got cooking on May 31. After a slow day of trolling offshore, these savvy Florida anglers chose to stay inshore where the fresh rain water helped stir up a nice array of bottom dwellers.
A pair of big Cuberra Snappers were the highlight of the trip until this beefy Rooster fish stole the spotlight:
After a safe release, the team got back to meat harvesting with a septuplet of sweet Yellowtail Snappers.

Cheryl got the action fired-up for the Odd Couples group with this nice Sailfish release:
These Jacksonville, FL anglers fished for five straight days so this was clearly a nice icebreaker. Great work by First Mate Alex to assist with the fight and see to the safe release of this big billfish.
We welcomed a big fun group of folks from our hometown of Jacksonville, FL and they scored some great inshore lunkers aboard the Wanderer.
Henry Starling, Rick Tullis, Richard Hosey, and Mike Glenn brought their families along for this inshore conquest and it is safe to say that all mouths were fed by these excellent Cubera Snappers.
They also added a pair of trophy releases in the form of these excellent Rooster Fish:
