Paul West and Amanda Sterling took a whirlwind trip throughout the whole country of Costa Rica, but when it was time to go fishing this Neptune Beach guy knew exactly where to go: the FishingNosara flagship Wanderer!

Amanda was neck deep in the action all day long, starting off with this fat Dorado and then adding a small White Tuna for the sushi platter.

The big highlight of the trip was this awesome Sailfish released by Ms. Sterling

“I am so proud of Amanda Sterling a 9′ Sailfish, 100 lbs, off the coast of Costa Rica, truly a rock star!” writes Paul. “Thank you…you guys are the best!”

Kenneth Kelly and his group come to us from the great plains of Nebraska and though there ain’t a lot of deep sea fishing back home, they made themselves right at home in Sailfish City.

The first Sailfish strike of the day put these Cornhuskers to the test, but with First Mate Alex’ coaching they performed brilliantly.

By mid-day these folks were old pros!

At the end of the 8 hour trip they had notched the scorecard with 6 Sailfish releases!

Great work by Captain William and the famous Wanderer.

February 6, 2014

Chad Langley and the boys finished off their week of furious fishing with more Sailfish release and some excellent eating fish on the Wanderer.

Chad tried to give the Sailfish an early Valentine’s Day present: a little kiss upon release!

They rounded out the day with Dorados and a tasty little Yellowtail Snapper.

David Svec and the boys hit the water hard on the Wanderer today with hard-biting action to report. Right off the bat they nailed a big Dorado, then set course for Sailfish City.

The Sails bit aggressively and gave these Massachusetts anglers all the fight they wanted.

Good safe releases by First Mate Alex to ensure the survival of these spendid Sailfish.

A second Sailfish came calling in the early afternoon and this posse made quick work of him.

David and the crew have a trip scheduled on the Explorer this week and we are looking forward to their results.

North Carolina’s own Chad Langley, Kevin Poole, Brad Simons, and Ben James put in a solid week of fishing on the pangas before stepping up to the flagship Wanderer on February 4.

Captain William put the blue beauty out in front of a pack of Sailfish and these boys pulled off four incredible releases.

The peak of the bite saw a triple-strike, however one of the Sails spit the hook…still you wanna talk about an exciting moment, this is it!

This was the final Sailfish release of the day and just might be the biggest of the bunch.

Nice fish-handling by First Mate Alex to see that all of these sweet Sailfish swam off safely.

They added a trio of swollen Dorados to round out an excellent angling performance.

I don’t know what it is about these North Carolinians but they sure can fish!

Sonny Strohl and the boys stepped up the flagship Wanderer today and they had billfish on the brain. Captain William set course for Sailfish City while First Mate Alex prepared an irresistible spread.

The Sailfish hit the lures aggressively as First Mate Alex expertly dropped the ballyhoo. The hook set and the fight was on.

Captain William kept these fights short and ensured the safe release of all Sailfish.

They also returned to shore with a sack of Mahi filets, care of this nice Dorado catch.

All around great day of action for the flagship Wanderer!

January 29, 2014

After their inshore successes the Gene Pleasants group finished off their Costa Rica trip with a journey to Sailfish City. Captain William led the way to a day of big strikes and fantastic releases.

The moment the sun came up the Sails were chomping, and once the spread was deployed the strikes came in like wildfire.

After the first release another charged-up Sailfish hit the hook!

Each member of the group got a Sailfish release of their own, plus a few double dipped.

At the end of the trip, Gene broke out a little toy he brought from North Carolina: an Mirrorlure electric reel.

We mounted this winch up to one of our new custom Poiseden Rods and flipped the switch on a nice Sailfish.

New tech, same result! A great was to end an action-packed day on the mighty Wanderer.

January 28, 2014

The Wanderer stayed inshore with Gene Pleasants today which presented the perfect opportunity to break in our new custom casting rods from Poseidon Fishing.

We worked closely with Harold Eberhardy of this West Palm Beach, FL rod builder to get the exact specs that fishing in this harsh environment demands. From the all metal butts to the expanded casting eyes, Harold and the boys really hit it out of the park on these rods, even down to the inlaid FishingNosara logo.

Gene’s group put the rods though their paces early and often, especially pulling in this pair of 40lbs. Amberjacks.

Later they caught a fine-looking Horse-eyed Jack, though decided to release it after a quick picture.

Between the big Dorados from January 27 and the Amberjacks from earlier in the day, they figured enough was enough in the meat department.

January 27, 2014

The Gene Pleasants group come from the hard-fishin’ town of Raliegh, NC and these boys are no stranger to big fish in the blue water.

On their first of three scheduled trips with the Wanderer they has good action on the troll with several Dorados on ice.

It’s always nice to fill up the refrigerator at the beginning of the week; nobody’s going hungry in this group.

They missed on a couple of Sailfish strikes, but these North Carolina anglers will have plenty for chances to dance with some billfish this week.

January 25, 2014

Our old buddy Francois Bernier returned to the Wanderer on January 25 hoping to improve on his December 2012 performance.

Back then he caught some big bottom fish and a few nice Dorados, but this trip saw Mr. Bernier best a beastly Sailfish.

After a safe release by First Mate Alex, Paige followed up with a big Dorado…seems like old times!

Great work by these fine folks and the ferocious flagship!
