On April 19 the Wanderer welcomed angler Mike Ascherl for a fun day of super Sailfish releases.

The best boats in the area gathered in Playa Gaza for the annual Ship of Fools Tournament from April 12-13, 2024.

Fishing was slowing leading up to the tournament, with overcast skies limited Sailfish strikes to just a few chances per day. However on tournament day the skies cleared and the temperature rose, leading to productive outings on the leaderboard.

All five FishingNosara boats were in the field of 13 boats.

The Adventurer was crewed by Nosara Paradise Rentals staff and they scored a great Sailfish release and backed-it up with some tasty (thought non-scoring) meat fish.
The Explorer found one nice Sailfish release on day one:

Returning FishingNosara Hall of Famer Sloan Rogers and his boys from North Carolina had a great weekend of scoring on the mega panga Harvester.

On the big battleship Discoverer, Craig Sutton was joined by Matty and Bridget Jorn for a six Sailfish performance.

Craig also scored this 88+lbs. Yellowfin Tuna which was sufficient to win the Calcutta.

The top team boat was the Wanderer with Florida anglers Steve Dziadul and Greg Short getting on the podium with a wonderful third place finish.

As always there was a great party in Garza to commemorate the event, and we can’t wait to get back to it next year.

Mid-Tournament Team Dinner:

On April 18, the Discoverer welcomed angler Cory Delz for a super Sailfish release.

They also nagged a big Wahoo for the dinner table.

The Harvester posted a fantastic scorecard on April 18 with a bunch of Sailfish releases.

Yellowfin Tunas and Dorados were caught for the dinner table.

Nice to see Captain Fito of the Adventurer pitching in at the Mate position.

Danny Baker and Manny Campos returned to the Adventurer for a fun day of Sailfish releases on April 17.

Time for an ice-cold Pipa Frio break!

The Wanderer continued to post excellent results on April 16

After a fun day of Yellowfin Tuna catching, they emptied out the cooler in Garza Bay, much to the delight of this hungry Turtle.

Captain Antonio and Mate Raffa were back on the water April 16, and the Explorer nabbed a sweet Sailfish release backed up with a tasty Yellowfin Tuna.

The Discoverer nabbed a nice Sailfish on April 15. Excellent fish handling by Mate Brian!

Captain Fito kept scoring in mid-April with several excellent Yellowfin Tuna scores by anglers Danny Baker and Manuel De Campos.

The mighty flagship and Master Captain William welcomed Ben Gardner’s family for a memorable day of blue water action.
