Every trip is a fresh adventure on the Wanderer, as client Mark and his buddies got on a variety of fish that have been a bit scarce this season. First up, they boated a pair of Cubera Snappers weighing between 20lbs. and 30lbs.


They grabbed another rather exotic piece of meat in the form of this Cierro mackerel. Named for it’s zero shaped spots, this little fella is one of the best tasting fish in the sea.


Nice work by the Wanderer in proving that there is good action to be found all over the inshore reefs.

Teacher’s day on the Explorer!

For the final day of the off-season Captain David and Javier welcomed two of the most respected English teachers in the area for a relaxing afternoon on the water.

Senior Marcos serves as a personal English tutor for the FishingNosara / Nosara Paradise Rentals staff and is also a much-sought after private tutor. This nice Amberjack he caught with Javier is tasty in any language!


Senora Betsy Chavarria Castillo teaches the youth of Nosara and also joined the boys for this fishing trip. She also hooked up a fine Amberjack and her devoted boyfriend also grabbed a nice Cierro Mackerel.


Excellent trip and fine catches on the Explorer for the teachers and our staff.

The perfect way to kick off the season was with General Manager Javier Hernandez and his friends joining Captain David on the Explorer for a harvest of the fertile reefs just outside of Garza Bay. In just two hours they boated a handful of Yellowfin Tunas, Jack Crevalles, Cerro Mackerals, and Amberjacks.


Nice warm up lap! The fish are biting and we are fired up for a great year of fishing.

We are still waiting for conditions to settle down and the blue water to move close to shore, but in the meanwhile there has been a nice surprise coming to the shores near Garza: the Ciero Mackerel.

Named for there zero-shaped spots (‘Ciero’ is Spanish for ‘zero’ and they are pronounced almost identically), these fish are the total package for fun angling: good fighters, hard biting and great tasting. A genetic cousin of the King Mackerel, the Ciero makes for fantastic sushi.
