Ron and Elaine Schurr are the most recent in a long line of Jacksonville anglers who have found success on the mighty Wanderer. It feels like the blue beauty can sense when her passengers hail from her former port of call.

Captain William put these fine folks over a nice bite of Dorado and they came home with about 25 pounds of tasty Mahi Mahi filets.

The Schurr’s have a date with the Explorer and hopefully we’ll have another great report from this First Coast fishing duo.ย

Today wasย  a very productive half day outing for Jeff Saint on the nimble new Adventurer. They set up shop just outside of Garza Bay and found fertile fishing grounds over a piece of floating debris.

Jeff pulled five Dorados and eight Bonitas from under the driftwood and then Captain Carlos took them a little further inshore and deployed a scaled-down version of the devastating Planer / Spoon rig (see right side of photo). This tasty Jack Crevelle was the result.

Captain Carlos is a hungry fisherman who squeezes every drop of action out of his fishing days. Another great wall-to-wall report from the hard-charging Adventurer.

May 15 was a tough day on the Wanderer. Client James Cash and his group are in town for multiple days of fishing which is a good thing because the water conditions for their first trip were less than stellar.

This 10lbs. Dorado was the only viable catch of the day, and from the picture you can see why. Those dark clouds onshore were pouring fresh water down the mountain which pushed the blue water far out to sea. This influx of new water wrecks havoc on the fishery.

Still the Wanderer showed her “Never Surrender” attitude by getting at least one fish in the box. Let’s hope for better action for Mr. Cash and his posse this week.ย

The tasty green Dorados are back in the area and the Wanderer is doing all she can to stay on top of them. On the morning of May 12 client Lion caught three of these Mahi-Mahi with the big one weighing over 25lbs. For some reason chose to take a picture with the smallest one.

This came on the heels of client Kate knocking out 5 Dorados on a 2.5hr. Sunset trip the night prior. Clearly the Wanderer is apt to adapt her tactics as the bite changes.ย

Things have stayed lit up for Chuck Harris and Rick Blackburn’s group as once again we have report of a mighty billfish released. This monster Sailfish came calling at 10am and was no match for this team of seasoned FishingNosara Hall of Famers.

Another safe release as always by First Mate Alex.

Later in the day this sandwich-size Dorado came onboard to give Chuck a little kiss. How sweet!

Hall of Famers Morgan Trible and Kenny Strickler have struck again! They booked the Wanderer on April 10 and released 2 two Blue Marlins (200lbs. and 400lbs.) plus added two Dorados (13lbs.-30lbs.)

Looks like Kenny just can’t let go of this great fish. Finally Morgan and First Mate Alex pried her away and released her safe as always.

Chris DiCola and his lovely wife Carolyn have been fishing hard this whole week, but March 28 was certainly the highlight of their four fishing excursions. Enlisting Captain William and First Mate Alex of the legendary Wanderer, this husband and wife fishing team from Pennsylvania went on a very fruitful billfish hunt.

They released two Sailfish during the 10am morning bite, then added one more during the 1pm afternoon session.

As an added bonus Chris nailed this meaty Dorado for the dinner table.

Chris and Carolyn were nice enough to provide the filets for a little dinner party at Rancho Tico with Craig, Matty, Captain Jack, and the Bickel group. As always great friendships are forged over fresh fish filets.

Jeff Bickel was introduced to big Sailfish when he had a double release with his brother Brian back in January.ย

This time there was a mighty billfish waiting on him and he bested this beastie in just 15 minutes.

Our new friend Steve matched his fishing buddy with a tremendous Sailfish release of his own.

Of course First Mate Alex saw to the safe release of both monsters. With the trophies released, Jeff and Steve checked in at the fish market and scooped up more that 50 pounds of Mahi-mahi.

Great gaff shot by First Mate Alex but an even better photo by Captain William:

Jeff Grosshandler of Namaste Oasis has built a wonderful fractional ownership operation over the last three years and a staple part of his clients’ experiences has been a day on the famous Wanderer tracking down blue water monsters. Joined by Doug Carras, Mr. Grosshandler enlisted Captain William and First Mate Alex for a half-day trip and brought home a nice Dorado for the dinner table.

Who says chicken can’t fly?

Excellent catch by Doug Carras and our main man Jeff Grosshandler!
