With all the excitement surrounding the launch of FishingNosara’s newest boat, the Wanderer, let’s take a moment here and welcome her top-notch crew. Captain William Barrantes Mendoza and mates Alex and David are all lifelong anglers with deep local roots, and believe me they are more than capable of running such a fine boat.

After releasing four out of the nine Marlin raised in late November, the Wanderer set her sights on more of the big boys. On November 22nd Captain William was joined by Craig and Matty of FishingNosara.com and Nosara Paradise Rentals’ head builder Danilo for a 3/4 day of Marlin hunting. Sure enough one more raised, caught, and released for the Wanderer, this one approximately 350lbs.

Chris Savitz of Jacksonville was aboard with Craig and Captain William for several fishing trips in late November. Mr. Savitz was part of the team that rigged the Wanderer and it was quite a thrill for him to catch this massive Dorado. Now, Mr. Savitz is not an especially big guy, but you got to love that this fish is taller than Chris.

Most recently Captain Vibert welcomed client John for two days of fishing on October 13th and 14th.

The first day brought John and Captain Vibert tons of bites, and they reeled in five Dorado ranging from 20lbs. to 30lbs. They also grabbed four 10lbs. Black tunas and five 8lbs. Cobias.

The second day they loaded up to go hunt the big boys out in the deep water. The first hit was a small black tuna weighing around 10lbs.

Once the sun got overhead, the flashes of turquoise and gold came up from the deep; the telltale sign of a Dorado frenzy. One line popped off, then another. As fast as Vibert Jr. could boat one fish, another fish was on! By the end of the bite they had boated five Dorado ranging from 20lbs. to 40lbs.

They weren’t quite done yet. With the crew dialed in and the weather cooperating, John went looking for the billfish. A few sailfish were sniffing the bait and Vibert showed the patience that 30 years on the water imparts. Finally one of the big sailfish hit hard! John belted up and engaged the fish in a spirited half-hour duel. He brought it into the boat where the crew estimated a weight of well over 100lbs!

On August 30th the staff of Nosara Paradise Rentals took an end-of-season trip and had a MASSIVE catch. The crew did quite well catching a 25lbs. wahoo, six 12lbs. yellowfin tunas, and five 10lbs. rainbow runners.  They also caught a massive cubera snapper, estimated to weigh 70lbs.

These guys and gals work tirelessly to make our slice of paradise accessible and accommodating
to all our guests, so it great to see them have a little fun and catch a lot of fish.

Mark Gombert caught a 10lbs. jack and got hooks into two 120lbs. sailfish on a sunset cruise. Those fish were lost, but the day provided vital experience; the following day Mr. Gombert and his party finally boated a 130lbs. sailfish and a massive dorado.

Over the two days Captain Vibert had the marlins and sail jumping all over the water. Check out these pictures:

On Februrary 1st, Captain Carlos took Javier (our office manager), Manuel (our concierge), and me on the Reel Deal  where we raised three Black Marlins, burying hooks in two of them.

One of the Blacks looked to be in the 800-1000lbs. range! Seriously…follow this link and take a look at the new video for a taste of the action.

We finished off the day with a pair of 35lbs. Dorado. Great job by the whole team!
