You gotta love this itinerary: 6 nights in Nosara, 5 days of fishing!

The hardcore angling quartet of Ben James, Brad Simons, Chad Langley, and Kevin Poole began their fishing odyssey on board the legendary Explorer on February 2.

To say they got off to a fast start is the understatement of the year:

This high-flying Striped Marlin ain’t the biggest bully in the schoolyard but he had moves like a welterweight champion.

Chad put the screws to this fish as Captain David did everything he could to keep her centered behind the cockpit.

Finally they got the fish alongside and the fearless Captain Carlos (on loan from the Adventurer) executed a perfect billshot and release.

Later Ben got into it with a very aggressive Sailfish, but once again this billfish was no match for the barroom brawler Explorer.

These boys didn’t go hungry either, as Kevin KO’d this nice Dorado and Brad added a tasty White Tuna.

Good start to what should be a legendary week of hardcore fishing.

Kurt Gresenz and Thomas Gargan enlisted Captain David of the legendary Explorer to guide them to Sailfish City.

Little did they know that the biggest Wahoo of the season was stalking the super panga’s spread.

This monster easily weighs 60lbs. and might be 70.

With the filets on ice it was time for the mission at hand: Sailfish skirmishing!

By the end of the day Mate Kevin had four safe releases.

Great fish handling and awesome hunting by Captain David.

The Explorer was pleased to welcome Tobias Marcuy and his group for a fish-filled day on the blue water.

This group had five Sailfish releases with some beautiful photos to show for it.

Check out this bright blue! Great work by Mate Kevin to keep these still-green fish under control. Safe releases all around make for a perfect day!

They also nabbed a pair of Dorados for the icebox; one came early in the day, the other was the last fish in the boat.

Excellent work by Captain David and the legendary Explorer!

February 3, 2014

Ryan McCulley and his friends booked the Explorer for a 6.5 hour trip to the blue water and were met head-on by a pack of hungry Sailfish.

Captain David and Mate Kevin pulled out all the stops and delivered several sweet Sailfish releases.

Photographs rarely do these fish justice; however these shots captured the bioluminecent glow of these wonderful fish.

Great fishing by this fun-loving group of New Yorkers on the legendary Explorer!

Fantastic send-off for Sarah Heekin and her group! After a week of big Sailfish releases, they finished their three-day excursion with perhaps the largest Sailfish release of the season so far. Look at the shoulders on this monster:

This fish probably outweighs Mate Kevin by 60lbs., so it was a minor miracle just to pull off the safe release.

Later in the day they released another nice Sail to put the cap on a great week of fishing.

Awesome work by Captain David and Mate Kevin to show these North Carolina anglers a great time on the water!

Clifford Jordan returned to the Explorer on January 30 and decided to focus strictly on Sailfish…makes sense when you have a ton of filets already on ice from the first two trips!

Captain David and Mate Kevin were on their game with a quartet of Sailfish releases.

All safe released as always, and some great shots by Captain David of these lovely creatures.

This four fish day is a perfect send off for these awesome North Carolina anglers!

January 28, 2014

Clifford Jordan had a stellar day on board the Explorer with a scorecard that can be defined as the perfect day of charter fishing.

They started off inshore and immediately put these two whopping Dorados in the fishbox.

Then Captain David pointed the barroom brawler off-shore early in the trip and they spend the morning getting hammered by Sailfish.

Great releases by Captain Carlos (of the Adventurer) to ensure the safe survival of all of these catches.

In the afternoon they returned inshore in search of more filets, and were rewarded with this giant Cubera Snapper.

For a victory lap they added this Yellowfin tuna…three kinds of filets plus several trophy releases? That’s what I call a perfect day!

January 27, 2014

Sarah Heekin is the latest in our long lineage of North Carolina anglers to come our way via the NC CCA, and like the rest of the recent anglers from the Tar Heel state her group absolutely tore them out of the frame.

Big Sailfish dominated the morningn, and after Mate Fico safely released the beasts Captain David set the spread to attract tasty Dorados.

This is the first of three trips for this group and we expect even more big catches and big smiles from the Sarah Heekin group.

January 26, 2014

Clifford Jordan came our way by bidding on a prize package offered through the North Carolina CCA.

Like many of our past anglers from the Tar Heel State, this group put on a fishing clinic with Captain David and Mate Fico on the Explorer.

Sailfish attacked early and often, but they were no match for the Super Panga.

All the fish were safely released by our newest mate, who has a lifetime of experience in Garza but it still getting acclimated to the FishingNosara way of fishing.

Still, you can see his calm demeanor is the way he handed this feisty Sailfish:

After four excellent releases, the party focused on the refrigerator by pulling in two tasty Dorados.

Great work by Captain David and Mate Fico…we expect big things from this Mate in the future but his cool presence in the cockpit is already a welcome addition to the team.
