Sarah Heekin is the latest in our long lineage of North Carolina anglers to come our way via the NC CCA, and like the rest of the recent anglers from the Tar Heel state her group absolutely tore them out of the frame.

Big Sailfish dominated the morningn, and after Mate Fico safely released the beasts Captain David set the spread to attract tasty Dorados.

This is the first of three trips for this group and we expect even more big catches and big smiles from the Sarah Heekin group.

Clifford Jordan came our way by bidding on a prize package offered through the North Carolina CCA.

Like many of our past anglers from the Tar Heel State, this group put on a fishing clinic with Captain David and Mate Fico on the Explorer.

Sailfish attacked early and often, but they were no match for the Super Panga.

All the fish were safely released by our newest mate, who has a lifetime of experience in Garza but it still getting acclimated to the FishingNosara way of fishing.

Still, you can see his calm demeanor is the way he handed this feisty Sailfish:

After four excellent releases, the party focused on the refrigerator by pulling in two tasty Dorados.

Great work by Captain David and Mate Fico…we expect big things from this Mate in the future but his cool presence in the cockpit is already a welcome addition to the team.

The North Carolina dominance continued on the Explorer as Eddie Barnett and his buddy slayed some good-eatin’ fish on the Explorer with Captain David.

This Dorado is a fine specimen estimated to weigh around 30lbs., but the real treat was this 40+lbs. Wahoo.

The silver bullet is arguable the most difficult meat fish to catch as pound-for-pound they fight as strong as a Black Marlin.

Great work by the legendary Explorer.

The Explorer welcomed Matt Ketcham today from the hard-fishin’ town of Patchogue, NY on the south bank of Long Island.

This pro fisherman is set up about as close as possible to the Canyons, but the ‘short’ overnight ride he is used to is a little different than the 1600 foot ledge at the front porch of Garza Bay.

Look at this action from a 5 hr. half day barely 10 miles from shore:

Awesome work by Captain David and Mate Kevin on the safe Sailfish releases.

Mike Burling and his group split up today between the Explorer and the Adventurer but just because it was panga day doesn’t mean they didn’t head offshore.

Check out these fine blue water specimens roped in by Mike on the Explorer

After the Sailfish release they also capitalized on the bite with a nice Wahoo and Dorado on ice.

Nice trophy release and meat for the fridge? Just another great day by Captain David and Mate Kevin on the Explorer.

Captain Carlos had nice action over on the Adventurer, with this 25lbs. Dorado as the highlight:

The Explorer has been on fire during late December and we have barely been able to keep up with Captain David’s mammoth catches!

The Super Panga ran over 30 trips since our last report and the action has been out of sight. Sailfish have been a consistent treat for our anglers who crave offshore billfish.

Great work by Mate Kevin on the safe releases…the new mate on the Explorer is really turning heads with his excellent performance so far.

Clients of all ages have been catching football-sized Yellowfin Tuna from the Super panga…clearly Ahi is back on the menu!

Of course the staple of our blue water bounty is big Dorado, and as the first peak of the season hits the Mahi have been getting bigger.

The Explorer isn’t just a lure-dragger; she is fully equipped for inshore bottom fishing and Captain David’s lifetime of experience in Garza Bay spells doom for big reef dwellers.

The Cooper Family had a fantastic fishing day on the Explorer with Captain David and Mate Kevin.

Mr. Cooper kicked off the action with a nice Dorado catch.

Thing really heated up in the afternoon as the Explorer was beset by wave after wave of Sailfish strikes.

Sarah Cooper scored this mammoth release, but right on the heels of this fish swimming away Jessica nabbed one of her own. These were the first Sailfish for each of these ladies, but they bested the beasts with the precision of old pros.

Mate Kevin saw to the safe releases as Captain David stayed one step ahead of these rocket ships. Great day of action on the super panga!
