John Higgins and his fellow Vermonters returned to the shores of Garza for another adventure with Captain David of the Explorer.ย
The highlight of the feast was a pair of Groupers estimated to weigh 30lbs. The also had a big Marlin coming calling but the monster spit out the hook before it could be set. Still, plenty of filets in the cooler and lots of fun for this great group of Green Mountaineers.
Captain Eduardo and his big battle wagon Sportsman played host to Mr. Neil Sawyer and his group for a great day on the water. They caught 6 Red Groupers, two Rooster fish, and a pair of Congrios.
Offshore or inshore, Captain Eduardo keeps his clients on the fish!
Wayne Estes followed up their historic four Striped Marlin day with a very productive day of inshore reef harvesting. The Red Groupers were packing in thick and could not resist the topwater casted Williams Jet Popper.
‘El Popper’ could not be stopped as the Estes put on a fish catching clinic.
You gotta wake up pretty early in the morning to call yourself the pound-for-pound champ, so the Explorer had her lines out at the crack of the sun this morning. Captain David kept client Thompson Rains and his group on the fish and the rods were bent all morning.
This was Captain David’s first of two trips for the day; great job on the early morning bite by the Explorer.
Captain David has been delivering memorable Sunset fishing trips for his clients. Check out this multi-species evening:
Their 2.5 hour session yielded (from L to R) a Red Grouper, a Yellowfin Tuna, a White Tuna, and a nice Congrio. These guys made it back to shore just in time to get these filets to a restaurant…sounds like the perfect evening!
No let up from the boys on the FishingNosara flagship Wanderer! Captain William and First Mate Alex bid farewell to Josh Luke after his incredible marlin release, then welcome Colin Conces and his family for a Sunset cruise.
The family had great success on the Red Grouper that have swarmed into the area the last few days, boating a nice stack of filets for the dinner table.
Mr. Conces also added this delicious White Tuna to the sushi plate. Another relaxing yet fruitful Sunset family fishing trip from the comfy Wanderer.
Nosara Paradise Rentals GM Javier Hernandez took a quick 2.5 hr Sunset cruise with Captain David on the Explorer and el jefe pulled in reef monsters that would cause the most refined palette to salivate.
These Red Groupers are far and away the most delicious of the Grouper family and the Congrio is legendary for its tasty white meat. From monster snook to inshore assaults Senior Javier has the tools and the talent to bring home the bacon. Yummy!
Neal Jerome and his group took to the Wanderer for a 2.5 hr. excursion and they found a plethora of Red Groupers hovering on the reefs below. This is just seven of the Groupers they put on ice:
These tasty morsels are somewhat common around here but that doesn’t make them any less delicious or fun to catch.
They caught nine of these colorful Groupers in less than three hours. Excellent fishing by these California anglers on the magnificent Wanderer.
The Wanderer hosted Charles and his family for a fun-filled day on the water on February 9. They had some unique catches over the reef and took a few minutes out for an impromptu Snorkeling trip.
Charles broke the ice with this fine Red Grouper caught on a slow troll. Notice the spearfishing boat in the background; this is a crafty move by Captain William to utilize the commotion caused by the divers to coax these bottom dwellers up to the surface.
Mom followed up with a tasty White Tuna caught on a planer/spoon rig and was the first of two tasty White Tunas.
White Tuna are incredibly tasty to eat. Don’t take our word for it…ask this Red Grouper:
They capped off their morning trip with a nice swim just outside of Garza Bay. Great fishing and great fun on the Wanderer.
The Tampa boys stayed inshore once again on January 15 and if you think that means they settled for small fish, then you have no clue about the kind of monsters that live on the reefs in Costa Rica.
This Broomtail Grouper appears to weigh over 50lbs. which would make it the largest Cabrilla caught since Matty’s monster back in November 2010. Sheesh, the lips on this fish probably weigh five pounds:
Joe followed up the largest Grouper we’ve seen this year with the smallest grouper we’ve ever seen. Ya might be able to get half a sandwich out of this little fella, but instead we threw this one back…maybe in another ten years he will resemble his departed big brother.
The blue water is beckoning these boys and they are planning to head offshore early tomorrow. Let’s keep an eye on these world-class anglers as they head out to challenge some top-notch billfish.
