Wonderful day of fun billfish action on the Discoverer!
November 14 will be a day that John Schimkaitis, Heather Cozart and Jared Cozart never forget as they enshrined themselves in the FishingNosara Hall of Fame with a legendary BILLFISH GRAND SLAM!
First up was John nabbing a 100lbs. Sailfish, released early in the trip, completing the first leg of the Grand Slam.
Then a 100lbs. Striped Marlin came calling around noon; not the biggest specimen we’ve ever seen but Jared’s catch still counts as the second piece of the Grand Slam.
Finally it was Heather’s turn on the reel for a MASSIVE Blue Marlin estimated by Mate Kevin upon release to be well over 350lbs.
The action was so hot on the Discoverer that the scorecard shows more than just Billfish releases; a good array of Dorado and Yellowfin Tuna means that these North Carolina anglers will be able to replenish their strength at the dinner table.
Fantastic work by Captain Carlos and the unbeatable battleship Discoverer!
The Discoverer welcomed Stephanie Vinat’s group for a 6.5 hour trip on November 11 and they had an absolute blast on the big battleship.
This Marlin release is a great angling achievement, and these folks didn’t leave empty-handed thanks to a variety of nice Dorados and Yellowfin Tunas.
The Discoverer stayed hot on November 8th with angler Dale Greeson posting the first Marlin release of the year for the big battleship.
Great work by Captain Carlos to deliver this fish of a lifetime!
Our great friend Hubble Keller closed down the season a few months ago on the Harvester with a strong Marlin release, and wouldn’t you know that he got things started this year with another one?
Hubble and the boys were just getting started as they backed up the Striped Marlin with some nice Sailfish releases.
For the dinner table they hooked up three big Dorados and put them on ice.
Great start for Hubble Keller and the mega panga!
Casey Jones made a quick visit to Nosara on October 8 and found a world of success on the Harvester.
This nice Striped Marlin was the highlight of the trip which also included a pair of Sailfish releases.
Gary Killam knocked it out of the park on the Wanderer with a fantastic Blue Marlin release:
Earlier in the day they filled up the fishbox with Dorado and Yellowfin Tunas on the deck.
Great work by these Tampa based anglers!
The Harvester capped off her season with a very productive day with angler Antonio Martinez and his family.
The mega panga’s reputation continues to grow and Captain Alex and Mate Kevin put on a billfishing clinic for these great anglers.
Later in the day Michael Madnick scored this awesome Marlin release.
Captain Carlos finished off his season with a banner day with John Ritchie.
How does TWO Marlin releases sound for a send-off?
Nice work by Captain Alex (of the Harvester) filling in at the Mate position to capture and release these monsters.
They also scored a pair of big Dorados for the end-of-season feast.
The Wanderer finished the season with a magnificent trip with Christine Clarke and her family on August 22.
The father/son and mother/daughter combos went head-to-head with two nice Dorados.
A third nice fish rounded out the filet haul.
Family fun aside, Captain William and the mighty Wanderer earned the title of the FishingNosara flagship by scoring big Marlin releases.
This beastie put on a show for the Clarke family, and Mate Johnson was ready to bill and release the final Marlin of the season.
After a year that saw 234 trips, the big blue beauty is back on the trailer and ready for a month-long repaint and refit.
Captain William will be back on the scene in mid-September to continue his reign as the best Captain in all of Central America.
