The Discoverer struck again with a MASSIVE Blue Marlin release on April 15.
This monster put up a heck of a fight but was no match for Captain Carlos and the battleship.
Gene and Betty Baker scored the fish-of-a-lifetime on the 13th with Captain Alex and Mate Kevin.
This big bad Black Marlin put on a show as she came into the boat, but Captain Alex’ boat handling skill kept the fight short and safe.
Excellent fish handling by Mate Kevin means that we’ll see this monster again in the future.
Later in the morning Betty brought home dinner with this excellent Yellowfin Tuna.
Kerry Wiggens and his family are the latest in a long line of great Texas anglers to conquer mighty billfish on the Discoverer.
After this awesome Blue Marlin release, they continued to score with an excellent Sailfish.
Our old friend Dennis Cinquino scored a wonderful Striped Marlin release on April 5 with Captain Carlos on the Discoverer.
Great fish released by a great angler!
Harris ‘El Matador’ Savin came to Nosara early to get warmed up for the Ship of Fools Tournament, and on his first day fishing Captain Alex found him a fine sparring partner:
This Blue Marlin was every bit of 300lbs. and gave us an advance glimpse at Harris’ angling prowess.
Captain Carlos welcomed Texas angler Shane Buck to the Discoverer on April 2 and delivered one of the nicest Marlin releases of the season.
This Black Marlin is a true Pacific monster!
Shane followed it up with a nice Sailfish:
Here’s what he posted on Facebook: “Top notch group. Crew worked their asses off even on a slow day we caught fish! They made it happen!”
Fresh off of a two Sailfish day, Captain David upped the ante with a Striped Marlin release on the 30th.
A great trophy fish release can work up an appetite…fortunately Captain David delivered dinner in the form of these big Dorados:
Texas angler Brandy Willis brought her fun-loving group down to Nosara for an action-packed week of blue water fishing action.
This high-flying Blue Marlin was the first fish of the day for the flagship, and the action would stay hot throughout the day.
Next up with this aggressive flying Sailfish, which managed to spit the hook after a series of acrobatic leaps.
Awww, shucks!
Fortunately the bite stayed good, as evidenced by this tasty Dorado for the dinner table caught by Dustin Purvis.
Our new friend Will Stein and his family performed brilliantly on the mega panga Harvester, highlighted by this awesome Black Marlin release:
Captain Alex stayed on the hunt, and led the Stein party to more Billfish success.
Our long time friends Ken and Brenda Russell and Larry Komenda and Misti Nolan were back on the water for another great day of action on the Wanderer.
Several big Dorados got the action started early, and in the afternoon a fierce Blue Marlin hit the hooks.
Great work by Captain William to keep the fight short and excellent fish handling by Mate Johnson.
