Our rainy season fishing campaign concluded with a trio of trips in early October with angler Troy Davis enlisting the Explorer for blue water action.

Several Sailfish releases were backed up with a literal boat load of medium-sized Dorados.

Mr. Smith and his crew got out of town just in time to avoid some historic flooding. Some areas of Nosara endured 30 feet of flooding.

The flooding in Nosara has been challenging, but the Ticos are working together and helping each other out.

Here is the 23-foot Adventurer with Capitan Alex, Antonio, and NPR staff Jeni and others getting some local kids to high ground.

The waters have since receded and things are getting back to normal.

Excellent video arriving from our friends Paul Arthur and Ricky Kay. These guys brought their own camera crew along for their fishing adventure and the resulting video is awesome:

Great work by Captain Alex, Captain David (of the Adventurer) filling-in at the mate position, and of course these great Texas anglers.

For those still clinging to the old notion that the fishing in Costa Rica is not white-hot in July, please check out this July 22 trip from the Harvester with angler Carlyle Smith.

This monster Marlin was just the tip of the iceberg.

A big time Sailfish wasn’t far behind, and the mega panga was there to pull her in.

Another great Sailfish also found its way to the Harvester.

Normally a big day full of billfish releases would be all that you need, but why not add some big Dorado filets for the fishbox?

Oh and in case you are wondering, all of these catch came on just a 6.5 hour trip…imaging if they had gone for a full eight hours!

Our old pal George Kommick had a wonderful run of trips with Captain Fico from July 15 to July 18th. The first day they filled the refrigerator with a wide array of tasty filets.

The highlight of the week came with the capture and release of this high-flying Blue Marlin:

Estimated around 400lbs., this is clearly a memorable catch for this great angler.

Jacksonville’s own Brian Dutcher, Jose, and Bubba from the Lil’ Hooker Fishing Team had a big time on board the Discoverer as Captain Carlos kept them on the fish.

Spinning porpoise pods led the way to the action and the weapon of choice was top-water plugs on spinning tackle.

These guys could barely get the hooks back in the water before enduring another wave of Yellowfin Tuna attacks.

With all these Tunas on ice, Mate Kevin was more than willing to share his fileting duties with Mr. Dutcher.

All in a day’s work for the big battleship Discoverer.

The Harvester welcomed one of FishingNosara’s oldest friends Roche Jaggeli of Playa Avellanas for a great day of action on June 6.

Roche has fished with us since the very beginning of FishingNosara and it’s always a treat when he comes south to visit us.

The day’s haul was highlighted by three big Yellowfin Tunas (60lbs., 34lbs., and 26lbs.) and of course the MASSIVE 54lbs. Dorado.

The legendary Dan Johnson rejoined the Wanderer for a billfish hunt on February 27, and along with his daughter Delaney Johnson scored a big Blue Marlin backed up by a nice Sailfish.

This monster weighs well over 300lbs. and is certainly a breathtaking achievement.

Delaney’s Sailfish was no slouch either, putting up a big fight on the way to a safe release.
