The Adventurer welcomed David Kronk and his friend for a 6.5 hour trip to the blue water, and their haul was highlighted by the biggest Wahoo of the year so far:

These Michigan-based anglers weren’t done stacking the fishbox as they tossed in a few football-sized Yella Fellas for good measure.

Great day on the water by Captain Carlos and the 23-foot switchblade.

The Adventurer welcomed Sue Battis and her group today and got a nice bit of good-eatin’ fish.

This big Dorado is the scale-tipper of the day, but the smaller Wahoo caught later in the trip is probably the best tasting; when they are in the 10-30lbs. range is when silver bullets yield the best meat.

Nice job by Captain Carlos and the 23-foot switchblade.

Jim and Emile Benvegna started their final day of fishing with Captain David on a great note: another Big Black Marlin!

They followed up with a nice Sailfish:

Then these Florida anglers caught two of the nicest Dorado of the season on the Explorer. This pair of bulls are MASSIVE!

These man-sized Mahi Mahi justified the Benvegnas purchase of two FishingNosara coolers to take the filets home…one wasn’t nearly enough!

Also Emilie added a tasty 15+lbs. Wahoo to add variety to the menu.

Great follow up to their awesome Marlin and Sailfish action from earlier in the week, all on the legendary Explorer!

The Wanderer stayed near shore today with client David Abbott and took advantage of the swarm of Wahoo that have invaded the green water. They scored two nice silver bullets:

Clearly Wahoo is on the menu for these guys.. However they may need to trade some filets if they want any Mahi; I don’t think this fella will even made two sandwiches:

Good fun and good fishing on the Wanderer!

Glenn Wootton’s group returned to the flagship on July 28 and took a tour of Sailfish City. The action fired off early in the full day trip and didn’t let up ’til late in the afternoon.

After three quick releases before noon, the action slowed down just long enough for lunch. In the afternoon the group picked up two more Sailfish releases plus a big Wahoo for the dinner table.

Great day all around by the Wanderer!

July 26, 2013

Glenn Wootton and his family had a lights-out performance on the mighty Wanderer on July 26. These South Florida anglers started out with a fantastic Marlin release:

Here are some pictures that Glenn sent along with the following message:

“The first picture is me after 10 minutes; the last one is a half hour
later. He kicked my ass “

For their final trick, Glenn’s posse nabbed some tasty Wahoo for the dinner table. Excellent work ladies!

Great work by the incomparable Captain William and First Mate Alex on a day with safe billfish releases and dinner in the fishbox.

July 25, 2013

The Explorer is absoulutely on fire this month! On July 25 she relased a Marlin and a Sailfish, plus mopped up on Yellowfin Tuna and the suddenly-abundant Wahoo!

The billfish were released early in the trip, leaving the rest of the day open for fridge-filling.

That’s some incredibly well-rounded fishing from the most powerful panga in the bay. Great work by Captain David and Mate Kevin on this excellent day!

Big news from the Adventurer! The little boat that no one saw coming just racked her first Wahoo. One of the hardest-fighting and elusive non-billfish species in our area, these silver bullets were caught by none other than newly-minted FishingNosara Hall of Famer Travis Picariello.

Why settle for one when you can have two?

This excellent performance underscores what we have always said down here: right boat + right tackle + right Captain = Great results for our clients. Wonderful day by Travis Picariello and the unstoppable Captain Carlos.

January 19, 2013

Kathy Preis found our about FishingNosara from our appearance at the St. Petersburg Power and Sail Boat Show back in December, and she brought her husband down to Costa to take a crack at the blue water beasties.
Things got off to a fast start with a MASSIVE Wahoo on the line; this monster is conservatively estimated to weigh 35lbs. but I think it is fair to say that this fish is closer to 50lbs. Excellent eating fish, too!

The action peaked around noon when a pair of Sailfish torpedoed the baits and a stage was set for the legendary Double Sailfish release.

As always Captain William’s superb boat handling skills were on full display as he maneuvered the Wanderer in a way to keep both anglers in a position of strength. Mate Carlos (of the Explorer and Adventurer) ran the show from the cockpit and saw to the safe release of both beautiful Sailfish.
