The Wanderer welcomed client Benjamin and his posse for a great day of fishing. Lots of action on the Yella fellas, big pink filets in the box, and even bigger smiles for the clients. A great trip to end a month that seems to just keep getting better.

The bite is sure to stay strong for the coming months and we know that wherever the fish are, Captain William will be right on top of them in the big blue beauty Wanderer.

May 15 was a double duty day for Alex and Captain William. In the morning they welcome client Marc from New York for a 3 hr. Yellowfin tuna hunt.

Craig, Paula and Javier went offshore for a billfish hunt that afternoon; unfortunately they only raised one sail.

Two days later they stayed inshore and worked over a school of Jack Crevelle and Bonita, then finished off the day by parking over a mancha (school) of Yellowfin Tuna; several double hook-ups led to some nice fish in the box: five Yellowfin tunas, eight Jack Crevelle, five Bonita, and a HUGE Needlefish

On May 13 the lovely Georgia Peach Ms. Paula joined Craig and Captain David on the Explorer for a trip to inshore fish market known as Picha Padre. They had just arrived to Nosara and Bianca (the official mascota of Nosara Paradise Rentals) was very hungry; it was imperative that they pack the fishbox with some good eatin’ fish.

Mission Accomplished as once again Paula brings home the bacon! All our clients know that if you have fresh filets in your house, little Bianca will be around for a snack.

Captain Eduardo took the nimble Nice n’ Tight out to deep water to take a crack at some billfish. He has a knack for getting big results from his little boat and on this day in particular Captain Eduardo released an excellent Marlin.

Also this month client Greg Donoghue and his friends were on the Nice n’ Tight and had great action on Yellowfin Tuna and Dorado.

Another month of fantastic fishing by the legendary Captain Eduardo Carrillo.

Newly-inducted Hall of Famer Dennis Paul was back in Nosara on May 4, and once again he had the fishies running scared. He earned his enshrinement by releasing a gigantic Blue Marlin back in February on the Wanderer and this time is on the Explorer mercilessly beating down the inshore species.

Captain David took the Explorer out to his secret spot and they packed the fishbox with haste and reckless abandon. Their scorecard shows two Jacks, a Rock Snapper, and seven nice Yellowfin Tunas.

Captain Eduardo has been knocking ’em out the last few weeks, and yesterday’s trip with Terry on the Sportsman was truly one to remember. They loaded up with a bunch of Bonitas for strip bait which in turn yielded three nice Yellowfin Tunas and two Amberjacks.

Then in the afternoon the Sailfish bite turned on in a major way. They raised five sails and buried the hooks into two of them. The releases were estimated at 80lbs. and 110lbs. Fantastic fishing by the legendary Captain Eduardo Carrillo.

A few weeks back while pre-fishing for the Ship of Fools Tournament, I asked Captain David Barrantes of the Explorer if there were any other area captains who he didn’t like. See in Florida we get really competitive with other boats, especially during tournament time.

David looked at me like I was crazy and laughed off the question. “Matt, we are all friends on the water.”

Sure enough, these guys really look out for each other. From sharing the location of good fishing spots to giving away excess bait, the Ticos of Garza bay are family first, fishermen second.

It is no surprise then that when longtime FishingNosara mate Vibert Blanche, Jr. received his own boat, the Secret Spot, that Captain David joined him for an afternoon trip to help shake down the new craft.

David and Vibert shared the duties of rigging, gaffing, and angling like old friends. I imagine that seeing these two titans of Garza fishing in the same boat scared the bejezzus out of the fish, and with good reason.

By the end of the trip they had caught several nice Yellowfin tunas and this beautiful Roosterfish.

Though the Secret Spot is not currently a part of the FishingNosara fleet, we wish young Vibert the best of luck on his new boat…after all “We are all friends on the water.”

Most recently, Ran Davis booked the Wanderer on April 8 and had some really nice catches. Mr. Davis and his group came home with a 40lbs. Cuberra Snapper, four Yellowfin Tunas, and a tasty little white tuna.

Great inshore action for the Wanderer in a month where the fish are literally chewing the bottoms out of the boats. Great job by the whole FishingNosara Team!
